About The Position

WSP is seeking a Lead Mechanical Engineer for their Seattle, WA or Boise, ID office. This role focuses on developing new clients and projects within the Healthcare sector, leading project teams, and growing client relationships. The ideal candidate will have experience in the full project cycle, from design to construction close-out, specifically within complex healthcare environments like hospitals and medical centers. Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Architectural Engineering
• 7+ years of relevant post-education experience as a mechanical engineer with a focus on HVAC systems.
• Professional Engineering license required.
• Extensive knowledge of mechanical design, particularly in the Healthcare industry.
• Known in the local design community with a network of partners and clients, including those in the Healthcare market.
• Proficient with mechanical engineering principles, practices, process, design/build and design assist delivery models, and their application to permitting and project work.
• Experience with project planning, design, and construction management, including involvement in renovation, new design, and construction projects.
• Specific knowledge of relevant engineering and mechanical construction laws, codes, regulations, compliance practices, and record-keeping requirements.
• Ability to make technical computations and calculations using mechanical engineering principles.
• Understanding of plans and specifications and ability to make factual comparisons to regulations.
• Demonstrated effectiveness at coordinating and directing others to complete tasks safely and efficiently.

Nice To Haves

• Master’s Degree in Engineering.
• LEED AP Certification
• At least 5+ years of Project Management experience.

Responsibilities

• Develop relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.
• Manage client relationships and provide key technical input on pursuit efforts.
• Coordinate, review, and approve mechanical design plans to ensure high quality, consistency with best practices, and compliance with codes, ordinances, and regulations.
• Apply high-level mechanical engineering techniques to identify improvements across all project phases (concept, preliminary design, final design, procurement, construction, operation).
• Plan and incorporate future-ready techniques, concept development, operating strategies, and design requirements for system functionality.
• Manage the design and construction of mechanical systems from project inception to completion.
• Work with clients and project teams to ensure timely delivery of deliverables.
• Drive new business by building sustainable client relationships.
• Oversee and monitor cross-functional engineering teams to execute project work, including budgets, hours, expenses, task completion, technical calculations, construction, compliance documentation, and regulatory/technical analysis.
• Prepare data and visualizations (tables, charts, reports, sketches, calculations, etc.) for interpretation and presentation.
• Prepare comprehensive technical reports and presentations to explain research, findings, concepts, and recommendations for design or construction issues.
