About The Position

McKesson is seeking a dynamic and motivated Lead Material Handler to join their Distribution Center team. This role offers the opportunity to work in a fast-paced, professional environment and assist the management team in nightly warehouse operations. The Lead Material Handler will lead a team responsible for picking and processing pharmaceutical products and supplies, unpacking and checking received goods, and maintaining records. This position also involves giving work direction, resolving problems, and ensuring timely completion of tasks. Experience working in a cold area is required, and assistance in other warehouse areas may be needed.

Requirements

  • Typically requires 5+ year(s) of related experience.
  • 5 years of work experience in a warehouse or distribution center is preferred.
  • A minimum of 6 months of McKesson experience is required for internal employees.
  • Leadership skills, including coaching and fostering engagement and collaboration across cross-functional departments.
  • Strong communication (written and verbal), interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in basic computer applications (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite).
  • Must be comfortable working at heights.
  • Must be comfortable working in refrigerated areas when required.
  • Ability to walk up to 10 miles throughout the course of a shift (steps vary per shift).
  • Ability to lift 20-50 pounds repetitively throughout the course of a shift without assistance; ability to lift greater weights in a team lift (weight varies based on product).
  • May sit, stand, stoop, bend and walk intermittently during the day.
  • May sit or stand seven (7) to ten (10) hours per day.
  • May be necessary to work extended hours as needed.
  • Finger dexterity to operate office equipment required.
  • Visual acuity to see and read fine prints.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this role include close vision, color vision and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Must be able to hear normal voice sounds.

Nice To Haves

  • Power Equipment is preferred.
  • Location is willing to train those willing to learn, but, must be able to maintain certifications once trained.
  • Exposure/experience with Accumax, RF preferred.
  • Must have a positive attitude, be quality driven, organized, punctual, committed, self-motivated and have an excellent attendance record.
  • Attention to detail with a focus on accuracy and quality; self-motivated with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision; strong adherence to established procedures and safety protocols; comfortable working in a fast-paced warehouse environment.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the management team in the nightly operations of the warehouse.
  • Lead a team of associates in the warehouse responsible for performing the physical tasks of picking and processing pharmaceutical product and supplies.
  • Unpacks and checks goods received against purchase orders or invoices, maintains records of received goods, rejecting unsatisfactory items where necessary.
  • May use power equipment such as a forklift, hand tools, and other devices operated in a warehouse environment.
  • Gives work direction, resolves problems, and sets deadlines to ensure timely completion of work.
  • Experience working in a cold area.
  • Assist in other areas in the warehouse as needed.
