About The Position

Under the direction of a supervisor or manager, the Lead Material Handler coordinates workers engaged in lifting, transporting, storing, and loading materials and products using conveyors, industrial trucks, or manual handling. The role oversees a small number of employees in a designated warehouse area and helps ensure that operational work meets production, quality, sanitation, customer service, and safety standards. The position also carries out the work of supervised employees when required and performs other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

Coordinate Material Handlers to use their time efficiently and meet production, quality, sanitation, and customer service standards.
Coordinate product flow with management and ensure safety precautions are followed.
Enforce schedules and estimated labor hours for completing daily job assignments.
Report assigned teams’ compliance with operational standards and initiatives.
Participate in recommending Kaizen activities to improve operations.
Perform the activities of supervised workers when required, as well as other assigned duties.
Directly oversee a small number of employees in the designated warehouse area.
Carry out responsibilities in accordance with organizational policies and safety rules.
Help meet goals and minimum performance standards; train employees; assign and direct workflow and associate movement based on business needs; address and elevate complaints; and resolve minor problems with management assistance.
