This role is for a Lead Material Handler who will monitor and develop employee performance to achieve departmental and company operational goals. The Lead is responsible for inventory management through a cycle counting program, overseeing shipping and receiving, and managing all stock movement activities. Requirements

  • High school graduate
  • Willingness to work overtime as needed
  • Able to lift to 50 lbs
  • Previous Forklift/Box Truck Experience
  • SAP/MRP/ERP Knowledge
  • Inventory Management Experience (Cycle Counting & Correcting Inventory)
  • Working knowledge of Excel

Nice To Haves

  • Will be required to drive company truck between Holland & Maumee facilities based on business demand
  • Operator certification within 60 days
  • Internal Candidates shall be rated a level 4 in the majority of competency categories

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and develop employee performance to achieve and exceed departmental and company operations’ performance and goals.
  • Manage inventory through the use of the Cycle Counting Program.
  • Oversee shipping and receiving operations.
  • Oversee all stock movement activities.
  • Lead tasks and actively participate in all company rules and safety practices.
  • Check teams’ quality of work and verify conformance to standards.
  • Complete and maintain all necessary records and reports associated with receiving, stores, issuing and shipment as required.
  • Indicate short or damaged goods and obtain driver’s signature where required.
  • Facilitate and support teamwork in completing all tasks relating to total customer satisfaction.
  • Provide guidance, counseling, and development in carrying out teams assignments.
  • Prepare meeting agendas and facilitate team meetings according to the team’s agreed upon guidelines.
  • Support the resolution of internal and external customer problems and requests; escalate when appropriate.
  • Assist, support, and make appropriate recommendations in departments efforts to achieve and maintain adequate requirements and staffing levels.
  • Coordinate teams training activities to ensure adherence to procedures and protocol.
  • Act as a job-related information resource for associates and internal customers.
  • Monitor efficiency of department support tools and technical equipment; escalate when appropriate.
  • Manage team conflicts so that problems and complaints are resolved constructively, reporting employee issues to Manager for action.
  • Delegate team tasks as needed.
  • Facilitate ongoing self-evaluation of the team’s effectiveness.
  • Maintain work area, tools, and equipment in a clean, safe, orderly manner.
  • Observe all safety and hygiene rules and regulations.
  • Establish or adjust work procedures to meet production schedules.
  • Assist with performance appraisals.
  • Oversee material transfer between primary and offsite storage locations.
  • Schedule and approve employee work hours.
  • Serve as a backup for peer team leads if absent.
  • Lead small teams for standard and nonstandard work.
  • Guide and assist team members.
  • Provide suggestions and ideas toward continuous improvement.
  • Train, mentor, and guide team.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.
