About The Position

KAYU-TV in Spokane, Washington, is seeking a Lead Master Control Operator/Trainer. The position trains new and current Master Control Operators in daily control-room tasks and also works as a Master Control Operator. Duties include operating switching and playback equipment, monitoring broadcast signal quality, operating satellite receiving equipment and the transmitter, maintaining logs and reports, and following company security and safety procedures.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Basic skills operating audio/visual and other electronic equipment.
Extensive computer experience.
Effective oral and written communication skills.
Excellent organizational skills.
Ability to follow standard procedures in high-intensity situations, work effectively under pressure without supervision, and maintain effective working relationships with staff.
Must have a phone and be willing to work additional on-call shifts as needed.
Must be willing to work overnights, weekends, and holidays; hours may vary.

Nice To Haves

Experience in electronic communications, broadcasting, or multimedia computing.
Management experience.

Responsibilities

Train new and current Master Control Operators on daily control-room tasks.
Work as a Master Control Operator, including shifts on the switchboard.
Operate audio/video switching consoles for all stations simultaneously.
Monitor equipment to ensure the quality of the delivered signal.
Input and operate computer servers for commercial playback.
Operate satellite receiving equipment.
Maintain logs and paperwork and prepare daily variation reports.
Operate the transmitter in accordance with Federal Communications Commission regulations.
Follow company security and safety procedures during business hours.
Perform related duties as assigned.
