About The Position

The Lead Manufacturing Technician is responsible for overseeing the production lines within the Oat Division. This role is a hands-on position leading a small team of equipment operators, delegating tasks, ensuring tasks are completed, motivating team members to achieve production goals and quality standards, and training new employees. While ensuring smooth operations including proper documentation and adhering to all food safety protocols are a large part of this role, it will also involve working closely with leadership and maintenance to troubleshoot issues on the lines as they arise and provide expertise and recommendations on how to fix issues and improve the operation of the lines.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years leadership experience within a food manufacturing facility
  • Proven trouble shooting experience based on detailed understanding of the line
  • In depth knowledge of all aspects of the Oat line from the field oat to finished product
  • Thorough knowledge of process and practices within the Plant, including any applicable equipment
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written), collaboration skills
  • Excellent performance and attendance records
  • Able to lift 25 kg.

Responsibilities

  • Operate all pieces of equipment on the line from start-up to shut down
  • Identify and assess issues with all equipment on the line
  • Work closely with Maintenance on trouble-shooting issues with equipment; including assisting in repairing equipment when needed
  • Attend weekly meetings providing technical expertise and historical insight into decision making by management, maintenance, and projects
  • Train new employee, and cross-train existing employees, on equipment
  • Leading a small team, delegating tasks, training new employees, ensuring jobs are completed and motivating members to achieve production goals
  • Setting up equipment, changing over product, and maintaining a clean working environment
  • Scheduling and coordinating staff breaks
  • Participate in routine production activities and ensure the quality of work/product meets company standards by taking appropriate actions
  • Act as liaison between team and the Production Manager and, on their absence, lead the lines independently.
  • Communicate with appropriate stakeholders about production updates, requests, issues, breakdowns, and more
  • Knowledge of area applying for Team Lead, with a proven track record of following policy & procedures
  • Ensuring quality of work/product meets Company standards by performing line checks, preparing production reports, printing labels, problem-solving, and coordinating with QA and Production Supervisors
  • Follow and adhere to all given instructions including work procedures, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and current Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP)
  • Adhering to and ensuring others are following Company safety policies, work procedures, and food sanitation standards and cleaning practice
