The Manufacturing Engineer serves as the hardware expert and go-to source for technical information related to component repair hardware. This expertise is leveraged to support shop floor Machinists and Inspectors, as well as Customer Service Managers (on behalf of customers) and even Fleet, Repair, and Design Engineers associated with their respective parts. This role defines and controls the production process, including tooling and equipment, and validates design specifications and shop floor application of new product, tools, or equipment. It includes direct people management responsibility, such as staffing and performance development. The role utilizes in-depth knowledge of a technical discipline, analytical thinking, and technical experience to execute policy/strategy. It requires knowledge of best practices and how one's own area integrates with others, with an awareness of the competition and market differentiators. The position uses some judgment and has some ability to propose different solutions outside of set parameters to address complex manufacturing processes with technical variety and/or interdependent production cycles. It leverages technical experience and analytical thinking, using multiple internal and limited external sources to make decisions. The Lead Manufacturing Engineer acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience and may lead small projects with low risks and resource requirements. They explain information, develop skills to bring team members to consensus, convey performance expectations, and may handle sensitive issues.
