About The Position

The Lead Manufacturing Engineer will support and lead projects to enable hardware delivery from suppliers by ensuring the supplier technical capability meets drawing requirements and part drawings are capable for manufacture within the Supplier Performance & Execution Sourcing Section. You will organize and coordinate multi-functional teams through technical problem solving to execute on product delivery improvements, support the Sourcing team and suppliers to resolve technical issues, while providing expertise to the team on manufacturing processes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma / GED with a minimum of 4 years of experience in Manufacturing)
  • At least 3 years of experience in Manufacturing, Engineering, or Production Management

Nice To Haves

  • Experience programming or mechanically supporting fabrication and/or traditional (milling, turning, broach, weld) and/or non-traditional (EDM, 3D printing) machining methods.
  • Experience using evidence-based analytical thinking to verify the relationships between issues and develop practical solutions fixing the underlying root cause.
  • Experience leading and participating in improvement projects and problem-solving efforts.
  • Sourcing, Shop Operations, or Production Control expertise.
  • Manufacturing Experience in Aerospace or Automotive.

Responsibilities

  • Manufacturing Engineering focal for assigned supplier base.
  • Own the technical performance of multiple suppliers, requiring frequent supplier travel (25-50%).
  • Actively lead delivery problem solving, collaborating with external supplier teams and internal GE fulfillment, commercial, and quality team members to enable solutions.
  • Drive multiple delivery and producibility improvement projects, ensuring adherence to defined methodologies, execution of individual tasks, and influencing partner resources to meet required tollgates and deliverables.
  • Provide manufacturing expertise in specific part families and processes, and support across multiple part families.
  • Guide and influence suppliers’ performance based on developing manufacturing expertise.
  • Influence cost at focus suppliers and actively address cost issues.
  • Partner with commercial owners to ensure supplier selection provides desired value.
  • Support source changes as needed, including problem-solving and supplier support.
