About The Position

Based at our State College facility in Pennsylvania, this Lead Manufacturing Engineer will work closely with local and global manufacturing teams to support products transferred from other GE HealthCare sites, including the ongoing transfer of manufacturing operations from Horten, Norway. This role is responsible for supporting critical transfer activities, sustaining manufacturing performance, and identifying opportunities for long-term process optimization and innovation. The successful candidate will serve as a technical leader within the organization. This position is well suited for an engineer pursuing future people leadership opportunities or an experienced individual contributor who leads through technical expertise, project leadership, collaboration, and innovation. Success in this role extends beyond individual accomplishments and includes enabling the success of peers, projects, and the broader organization. This position requires strong ownership, clear communication, and the ability to influence across all levels of the business. The Lead Manufacturing Engineer will drive data-based decision making, process observation and refinement, tooling and equipment improvements, documentation excellence, project leadership, and long-range planning to improve safety, quality, delivery, and cost.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical discipline from an accredited university or college, with a minimum of 5 years of manufacturing experience; or a high school diploma/GED with at least 10 years of relevant manufacturing experience.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present technical information and recommendations clearly.
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret and present data, apply structured problem solving, and make data-driven decisions.
  • Ability to plan, document, and execute projects, with established project-management skills.
  • Ability to Travel is expected up to 10% of the time. (Domestic & potentially International – Valid Passport or ability to obtain one)

Responsibilities

  • Control production processes, tooling, and equipment to maintain the validated state while meeting safety, quality, delivery, and cost objectives.
  • Identify manufacturing issues, determine root causes, and implement cost-effective, sustainable solutions that improve product quality and process performance.
  • Monitor productivity and process performance, using data analysis and engineering judgment to identify trends, risks, and improvement opportunities.
  • Lead cross-functional manufacturing projects from concept through implementation, ensuring alignment with operational, quality, and business objectives.
  • Create and maintain clear, accurate, and sustainable manufacturing documentation, including records required by change-control processes.
  • Lead tooling, fixture, equipment, and process-development efforts that strengthen manufacturing capability and support future business needs.
  • Collaborate and communicate effectively with operators, engineers, Quality, Operations, site leadership, and global teams to solve complex problems and make informed decisions.
  • Serve as a technical mentor and resource by sharing knowledge, providing informal guidance, and supporting the development and success of peers.
  • Promote a culture of ownership, accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Contribute to long-range planning by identifying future manufacturing needs, technology opportunities, capacity constraints, and process innovation initiatives.
