About The Position

As a member of the Process Industrialization team, you will help define, develop, and industrialize manufacturing processes using a team-based approach. This role will primarily focus on grind process development, including defining & testing new processes, improving existing processes, and supporting successful transfer into production.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college, or a high school diploma/GED with at least 4 years of equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 4 additional years of experience in Production Process and Equipment.
  • Ability and desire to work on site in a manufacturing environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; proven track record working in multi-group environments toward shared goals.
  • Ability to work off-shift or flexible schedule at times as required by project timelines.
  • This role is restricted to U.S. persons (i.e., U.S. citizens, permanent residents and other protected individuals under the Immigration and Naturalization Act, 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)) due to access to export-controlled technology. GE will require proof of status prior to employment.

  • Master's degree or Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Machine Tool Technology.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and improving manufacturing processes, with emphasis on grind process development.
  • Extraordinary attention to detail.
  • Experience machining high-temperature superalloys common in Heavy Duty Gas Turbine (HDGT) or aerospace sectors.
  • Track record of managing tight tolerances on large-format equipment.
  • Demonstrated examples of applying lean principles to process development.
  • Demonstrated proficiency programming multiple types of CNC machines (HBM, VTL, wEDM, sEDM, VMC, HMC, etc.).
  • Demonstrated proficiency programming CNC machines with NX-CAM.
  • Strong familiarity with multiple machine controls including Fanuc, Haas, Okuma, Basaran.
  • Strong familiarity with Renishaw probing processes and routines.
  • Experience using Vericut (preferred) or other CNC verification/machine simulation software.
  • Knowledge of post-processor development and debugging, preferably NX Post Builder or NX Post Configurator.
  • Demonstrated proficiency interpreting drawing requirements and GD&T.
  • Strong problem solving and organizational skills with above average shop math skills in trigonometry and geometry.
  • Ability to drive innovation by implementing new ideas and screening new technologies to align with business objectives.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with multiple levels of the organization, both verbally and through written communication.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently.
  • Self-motivated, self-driven, and able to take ownership and make decisions.
  • This role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information. If applicable, final offers will be contingent on ability to obtain authorization for access to U.S. export-controlled information from the U.S. Government.

Responsibilities

  • Execute manufacturing process development activities across CNC Machining (mill, turn, drill, grind, EDM, edge contour), coating applications, blending, and other applications as required, with primary focus on grind processes, including process definition, validation, optimization, and industrialization.
  • Utilize in-depth knowledge of technical disciplines, analytical thinking, and technical experience to execute policy/strategy and roadmap initiatives.
  • Execute hands-on development of new products and processes to enable a successful hand-off to the production team.
  • Define and optimize process parameters to improve safety, performance, quality, repeatability, and tool life.
  • Support selection and development of cutting tools, tooling strategies, and process conditions.
  • Drive tool performance improvement through process and tooling optimization.
  • Standardize and document manufacturing methods and process requirements.
  • Incorporate lean manufacturing principles into process development.
  • Use continuous improvement methods, including kaizen activities, to support team initiatives.
  • Partner with production teams to troubleshoot issues, solve problems, and improve processes.
