About The Position

The Lead Manufacturing Engineer – Fabrication Manufacturing Readiness supports the design, sourcing, and production of complex aerospace components and assemblies for Edison Works Advanced Programs. In this role, you will drive design for manufacturing readiness, producibility, reduce manufacturing cost and risk, and ensure our suppliers along with internal GE shops can deliver safely, on quality, on time, and at cost — with a specific focus on fabrication technologies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in manufacturing engineering within a fabrication environment, preferably in aerospace or a highly regulated industry.
  • Proven experience leading manufacturing readiness projects for new product introductions.
  • Strong understanding of various fabrication processes, such as CNC machining, sheet metal forming, welding, brazing, and/or additive manufacturing.
  • Proficiency in CAD/CAM software (e.g., NX, CATIA, Mastercam).
  • Demonstrated ability to apply Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Excellent project management, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and leadership abilities, with the capacity to influence cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • This role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information. Therefore, employment will be contingent upon the ability to prove that you meet the status of a U.S. Person as one of the following: U.S. lawful permanent resident, U.S. Citizen, have been granted asylee or refugee status (i.e., a protected individual under the Immigration and Naturalization Act, 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)).

Responsibilities

  • Drive manufacturing readiness for complex fabrication processes (e.g., machining, forming, welding, additive manufacturing) from concept through production launch.
  • Collaborate with design engineering, supply chain, and quality teams to ensure design for manufacturability (DFM) and assembly (DFA).
  • Develop and implement robust manufacturing plans, including process flow, equipment selection, tooling requirements, and facility layouts.
  • Lead technical reviews and provide expertise on fabrication process capabilities, limitations, and best practices.
  • Conduct process capability studies, root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions for manufacturing issues.
  • Identify and implement advanced manufacturing technologies and automation solutions to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Develop and manage project schedules and budgets for manufacturing readiness activities.
  • Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior engineers and manufacturing personnel.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant safety, quality, and regulatory standards.
  • Travel as required to support manufacturing sites and suppliers.
