About The Position

Responsible for developing and implementing complex public relations programs and media relations in support of AT&T’s External and Legislative Affairs and Wireline Transformation organizations through planning and executing proactive communications plans. Key Roles and Responsibilities: Lead content development for communication plans, messaging, blogs, and media statements to support the company’s public policy objectives at the federal and state levels, as well as support communications for the company’s transformation efforts. Support media relations efforts on key initiatives related to policy and transformation efforts, including engagement with reporters, writing media statements, and conducting in-depth research on related topics. Distill complex policy and regulatory topics into clear, accessible, and actionable messaging that supports business objectives. Support the development and distribution of content such as speeches, scripts, press releases, messaging, social media content, and other materials for external and internal audiences. Must maintain a working-level understanding of the company’s priorities and macro news environment to ensure effective contributions to communications planning and execution. Serve as a trusted adviser to internal business partners who need to be aware of upcoming stories, issues and events that may impact the company’s reputation. Collaborate effectively and efficiently with peers at all levels across business units and work on complex problems requiring detailed analysis of unique factors. Develop external communications strategies, working cross-functionally with internal clients and partners (i.e., employee communications, public affairs, social).

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (BS/BA) desired.
  • 5+ years of related experience.
  • Superior writing, editing, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to respond in a timely manner to urgent requests and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Media relations and issues management experience.
  • Experience communicating with senior leadership to provide counsel and recommendations on key initiatives.
  • Proven ability to independently manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced and deadline-driven environment.

Nice To Haves

  • 5 to 8 years of experience in corporate communications, public relations, journalism or related field.
