About The Position

Performs specialized examinations of the breast to help in the diagnosis and treatment of breast disease. Performs all required procedures in the department while operating specialized equipment. Participates in hiring of personnel, annual performance appraisals as needed and evaluation and monitoring staff competency. Acts as an expert clinician who demonstrates a high level of knowledge/expertise, and is a leader/resource to the healthcare team.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree in Radiologic Technology: Required
  • Oregon Board of Medical Imaging (OBMI) Radiologic Technologist License: Required in OR
  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologists – Radiography (ARRT-R): Required
  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologists – Mammography (ARRT-M): Required in OR, Preferred in CA and HI
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from approved vendor per AH policy: Required
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from approved vendor per AH policy: Required

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's Degree: Preferred
  • Five years' technical experience: Preferred
  • Two years' leadership experience: Preferred
  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologists – Mammography (ARRT-M): Preferred in CA and HI

Responsibilities

  • Completes patient education regarding the exam while promoting privacy and comfort for the patient.
  • Follows infection control and safety guidelines.
  • Performs diagnostic or screening mammogram as ordered.
  • Prepares for and assists the Radiologist in the completion of intricate mammography examinations, including breast biopsies.
  • Produces high quality films for the radiologist to evaluate and completes appropriate documentation.
  • Performs quality control functions related to mammography.
  • Assists in compilation and maintenance of statistical data.
  • Evaluates and critiques images prior to radiologist interpretation.
  • Serves as technical leader on daily tasks and cases.
  • Models/mentors and trains staff on technical skills.
  • Recommends and coordinates scheduling of work assignments, daily priorities and directing the work of staff.
  • Provides input into hiring and promotion decisions for staff.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
