About The Position

This person will have the responsibility of leading the maintenance personnel on shift, ensuring their team is performing safe and proper repairs. This person will work closely with a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) reviewing and creating work orders and notifications. Must meet all qualifications and expectations of a level I, II, and III Mechanic. This includes being a resource for off-shift inquiries. Furthermore, this position may require working on off shifts and/or days off.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED); or one to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentage.
  • Must read, write, and communicate in English.
  • Minimum of two years of plant maintenance experience.
  • Must be able to communicate, comprehend, and follow instructions in English (both written and oral).
  • Two years related experience in food processing plant maintenance.
  • Must be proficient in mathematical calculation to the level used in Maintenance Mathematics. I.E. Fraction, Rations, Area, Circumferences, Tangents…
  • Must have the ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, and ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Possess a strong work ethic and lead by example.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Must have basic computer skills.
  • Be knowledgeable of mechanical nomenclature.
  • Be knowledgeable in shakers and conveyors.
  • Must have advanced electronic and mechanical troubleshooting skills.
  • Thorough understanding of plant operations and mechanical equipment
  • Must be able to complete work assignments with little to no supervision.
  • Thorough knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems and rebuilding of components
  • Properly use all basic hand tools, power hand tools, and shop tools
  • Proficient at welding mild, stainless steel, and aluminum in horizontal, vertical, and overhead positions with SMAW, MIG & TIG welders.
  • Proficient with oxyacetylene and plasma cutter.
  • Set-up and proper use of Pan and Box Break
  • Set-up and proper use of Metal Lathe and Mill
  • Knowledge of advanced plumbing runs and repairs.
  • Knowledge of tearing down and rebuilding centrifugal pumps and gearboxes.
  • Knowledge of advanced sheet metal layout, design, and fabrication.
  • Layout projects, define labor and material needed and implement.
  • Have advanced knowledge of all equipment operation, set-up, and repair within the facility.
  • Be knowledgeable of the potential hazards and safety procedures associated with the task.
  • Must be able to fill in for Maintenance Lead in their absence.
  • Must be able to operate a forklift and man lift in a safe manner.
  • Requires plant certification.
  • Must attend confined space training (attendant, entrant, rescuer and D2000 train the trainer) and will be a confined space rescue team member.
  • Will be a Respirator User and is responsible to meet the qualifications requirements of the Lamb Weston Respiratory Protection Program for the use of Respiratory Protection Equipment (current medical, fit testing, and training).
  • Will be an Emergency Response Team Member (Hazardous Materials Technician) and will be responsible to meet the qualification requirements per 29 CFR 1910.120 Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (current medical and training).
  • Must be clean shaven when the Emergency Response Team is activated for an emergency response or responding to emergencies, using an on-site shave kit to use a tight-fitting facepiece.
  • Must be clean shave for the annual respirator fit test.
  • Mustaches and sideburns are permitted, only if they do not extend into the sealing periphery or interfere with the valve functions of the respirator.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with plant management, shift supervision, purchasing department, maintenance personnel and parts room people.
  • Attend daily R&R meetings.
  • Coordinate and lead the DRA review on assigned shift.
  • Ensure completion of scheduled work orders with direct accountability for worked shift.
  • Assist with planning of PM’s and scheduled equipment repairs.
  • Create work requests for work to be scheduled.
  • Troubleshoot failures to determine root cause of problem.
  • Account and report for Emergency work completed.
  • Ensure safety requirements are followed by team members.
  • Audit completed work orders for proper documentation, feedback on changes, revisions, or suggestions, and thoroughness of completed work.
  • Work closely with the Team Lead Maintenance, Team Lead Area Production, and Velocity Maintenance Lead to coordinate daily activities.
  • Be able to clearly communicate job plans, timelines, and criticality of equipment and provide needed information to TLP and TLAP to make correct decision concerning the operation of the line.
  • Complete daily report of activities.
  • Review reports to determine effectiveness of shift.
  • Document performance or behavior infractions for shift personnel.
  • Assist Maintenance Supervisor with essential duties and responsibilities.
  • Assist in order of parts to ensure correct items are procured.
  • Other duties as assigned by Team Lead Maintenance.
  • Supply training and training opportunities when available.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively and collaborate with team members across all levels.
  • Must be able to demonstrate consistent positive leadership with subordinates, supervisors, and managers throughout the plant.
  • Actively participate in Company Safety and Good Manufacturing Practice Programs.
