About The Position

The Lead Maintenance Worker – Pipeline, supervises a 3-4 person crew responsible for the maintenance and repair of the water and wastewater system pipelines. Also provides assistance and support to various operations performed by the NTMWD. Performs duties such as grounds maintenance, and other needed duties for multiple systems. Works under general supervision.

Requirements

  • Must possess a high school diploma or GED.
  • Three years of experience in maintenance operations.
  • Must obtain a valid Texas Commercial Driver’s License Class A with tanker endorsement within 12 months.
  • Requires a valid Texas Driver’s License.
  • Must have the ability to communicate clearly.
  • Some supervisory capabilities.
  • Basic mechanical skills and knowledge of small hand tools and how to use them.
  • Must be able to operate tractor with attached mowing equipment.
  • Must become proficient in the use of the District Computerized Maintenance Management System.
  • Employees required to drive as part of their job duties are responsible for maintaining a current, valid, and vehicle - appropriate driver' s license of their resident state.

Nice To Haves

  • Prefer a Class “C” Distribution and or Type II Collections license issued by TCEQ.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises a crew of employees who perform work at various NTMWD facilities.
  • Performs general grounds and facilities maintenance
  • Repairs and replaces water and sewer lines as needed.
  • Provides labor to all NTMWD systems.
  • Responsible for evaluating quality of work performed by subordinate employees.
  • Cooperates with other departments to ensure work is done efficiently and correctly.
  • Observes safe work practices through proper use of safety equipment and procedures including permit required confined space entry and lock out tag out.
  • Responsible for ensuring subordinate employees observe safe work practices at all times
  • Takes action to protect certain structures and equipment under emergency conditions.
  • May be responsible for responding to various emergency situations in all NTMWD systems as directed by supervisor.
  • Performs annual cleaning of water and wastewater basins and flumes.
  • May be asked to assist other departments during emergency repairs or routine maintenance.
  • Required to be on a rotational “ONCALL” status to respond to NTMWD repairs outside of normal business hours, and work overtime as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
