About The Position

Under limited supervision, the Lead Facilities Technician will be responsible for planning, scheduling and servicing the facility, utility systems operations and maintenance activities. The Lead Facilities Technician will service, maintain and repair commercial/industrial (HVAC) air handling equipment as well as service and repair commercial refrigeration equipment. Perform architectural work; renovations, painting, carpentry, building repairs and preventive maintenance to building structures. Supervises Maintenance Workers in the performance of their daily activities.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree or a certificate in a technology or trade in electronics, electrical, heating and air conditioning or related field; and 6 years of directly-related maintenance experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience.
  • 2 years of supervisory experience.
  • Demonstrated skills in general maintenance.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and repair a wide variety of maintenance problems.
  • Ability to complete associated paperwork with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Highly motivated with good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as a part of a team.
  • Computer proficiency with Microsoft Office and the ability to learn department-specific computer systems.
  • Ability to wear a respirator and any other required personal protective equipment.
  • Post-offer background check required.
  • Ability to gain and maintain access to Kirtland Air Force base (KAFB) is required.
  • Willingness to be on call after normal work hours.

Nice To Haves

  • Trades licenses/certifications; NM boiler operator (BO I/ II), EPA Universal certification, electrical, plumbing licenses, HVAC-R.
