Asbury Village is recruiting for a hospitality focused Maintenance Technician to join our team! The primary function of the Maintenance Technician is to service and maintain the physical properties and mechanical systems of the Village. The Technician must have a broad range of skills and knowledge to address a variety of “handyman” maintenance issues that arise including household appliances, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, as well as the skill to deal with basic HVAC systems and equipment. This position requires a good mechanical aptitude. Technicians also assist with snow removal as needed, and various special assignments/activities associated with special Village events and promotions (table and equipment set-up, putting up holiday banners, holiday decorating, etc.). The Maintenance Technician position requires that you will be flexible on an On Call basis to meet emergency needs that may occur outside regular hours. The Technician will have a means of contact (home telephone or Village provided pager) when On Call. The Technician will work in areas occupied by residents, staff, and guests.

Requirements

  • Able to read and write and follow detailed directions.
  • Demonstrate independent judgment, common sense, and critical thinking.
  • Able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Able to handle multiple task assignments.
  • Knowledge and skill to use tools and equipment safely.
  • Knowledge and compliance with general safety and OSHA rules to ensure staff safety.
  • Demonstrate professional and pleasant people skills that consistently displays patience, courtesy, and respect of others.
  • Ability to recognize unsafe conditions and take action to correct and/or prevent risk to others.
  • Good physical and mental health is required.
  • High school education with some technical or mechanical training or experience.
  • Valid Illinois Driver’s License with safe driving record.

Nice To Haves

  • One or more of these skill sets: general carpentry, mechanical, plumbing, HVAC, and electrical repairs common to households and multi-unit buildings.
  • Minimum two years of experience in a position that involved some or all of the scope of duties for this position.
  • Experience with HVAC and/or Carpentry.

Responsibilities
