About The Position

The Lead Neighbor Service Technician is responsible for all general apartment maintenance in order to maintain and preserve the Neighborhood and to provide a quality living environment for our Neighbors. This role focuses on customer service, daily operations including apartment turnovers and troubleshooting/repairs of mechanical systems, and leadership by mentoring and guiding the team. The Lead will also help manage costs and be resourceful to achieve financial goals.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
  • Minimum three certificates from related institutions reflecting completion of maintenance related courses (e.g., BOMA, IREM, vocational programs).
  • Available for on-call services and weekends.
  • Minimum of three to four years experience and/or training in apartment maintenance.
  • Mastery of the basics of plumbing, painting, electrical, carpentry, and appliance repairs.
  • Knowledge of safety policies and procedures.
  • Minimum of one year supervisory experience.
  • Ability to speak, communicate, read, write and understand the primary languages used in the workplace (including English) to maintain safety and serve customers.
  • Basic computer proficiency.
  • Understanding of building materials and tools.
  • Ability to use Yardi and manage work orders through technical systems.
  • Requires standing, climbing, balancing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, hearing, and visual acuity.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. occasionally.

  • Two or more years of supervisory experience.

Responsibilities

  • Provide general apartment maintenance to maintain and preserve the Neighborhood.
  • Ensure a quality living environment for Neighbors.

  • Complete all phases of apartment turnovers.
  • Troubleshoot and repair most major and all minor mechanical systems.
  • Help with scheduling outside vendors.
  • Track budgets and financials.
  • Perform administrative support duties for all maintenance related activities.
  • Mentor and provide guidance and leadership to the maintenance team.
  • Help the Neighborhood achieve their financial goals through managing costs and being resourceful.
  • Lead by example, setting the standard for the team.
