About The Position

The Dinerstein Companies (TDC), a prominent developer in multi-family and student housing, is seeking a hands-on Lead Maintenance Technician. With over sixty years of experience and a reputation for developing premier apartment communities, TDC emphasizes genuine hospitality and authentic care. This role is crucial to the on-site maintenance team, reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor and serving as the primary technical leader for maintenance staff. It is considered a stepping stone towards a Maintenance Supervisor position. Requirements

  • At least 2–3 years of experience in on-site maintenance operations.
  • Experience leading or mentoring maintenance team members.
  • Strong customer service experience as part of a successful management team.
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot HVAC, plumbing, and electrical system repair efforts.
  • Familiarity with building operating systems, including trash compactors, pool systems, boilers, and ventilation.
  • Ability to handle tile, carpentry, drywall, and appliance repairs.
  • HVAC certification required.
  • Must have certifications/permits required by the city or state to perform the job.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Property management software experience.

Responsibilities

  • Address resident service requests and assist with escalated or complex repairs.
  • Support the Maintenance Supervisor with daily planning, prioritization, and assignment of work orders.
  • Provide guidance, training, and direction to Maintenance Technicians.
  • Document service request updates, closures, and pending items in the property’s management software.
  • Repair or replace in-unit and common area lights, filters, fans, paint, appliances, and fixtures to maintain property appearance.
  • Perform advanced troubleshooting and repairs to HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems.
  • Perform in-unit and community-wide preventative maintenance efforts.
  • Assist with and inspect make-ready and vacant apartments to ensure readiness for move-ins.
  • Identify and correct hazardous property conditions and escalate concerns as needed.
  • Assist other maintenance team members with ongoing property upkeep efforts, including landscaping, trash removal, and cleaning.
  • Serve as acting Maintenance Supervisor when needed.
  • Contribute to a management team culture focused on customer service.
