About The Position

AZEK is seeking a Maintenance Technician Lead to undertake the responsibility to learn under the direction of Maintenance Management and assistance from other more skilled maintenance personnel. The Maintenance Technician Lead is a position that requires the individual to work unassisted in all tasks with occasional assistance as required. This position requires the incumbent to be able to be the lone maintenance resource for any given time span. Under the direction of the Maintenance Supervisor or Manager, the Maintenance Technician Lead will be responsible for doing the work and training for others on conducting scheduled maintenance, repairing equipment as needed, and documenting maintenance (i.e. spreadsheets, CMMS, email, etc.) and completing repairs on lines and equipment within their shift. The Maintenance Technician Lead will possess considerable skills, knowledge and experience related to working on electrical, electronic, mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems within a large, 24/7 manufacturing environment. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED, required
  • 5-7 years of experience in a similar position
  • Basic computer skills preferred
  • Forklift experience required or the ability to complete Forklift Certification Program
  • Work schedule flexibility to accommodate needs of the business
  • Must be self-directed and motivated and able to multi-task in fast-paced, 24/7 manufacturing environment
  • Strong electrical/mechanical aptitude
  • Knowledge of PLC Logic technology required
  • Thorough understanding of the pneumatic and dense phase blending systems
  • HVAC or Refrigeration Knowledge
  • Thorough understanding of the manufacturing plant support systems such as blowers, chilled water system and compressor systems working unassisted with occasional assistance.
  • Proven experience as maintenance technician or similar role.
  • Strong technical knowledge of all building systems (heating, pneumatics, hydraulics, etc.).
  • Knowledge of health & safety practices and OSHA regulations.

Nice To Haves

  • Ohio Automatic sprinklers and standpipe systems, Fire service mains, Fire pumps, Fire alarm and detection equipment certifications
  • Stick and wire welding experience
  • Proven experience working unassisted with and troubleshooting: Electrical, Electronic, Motor Controller Drives, Mechanical, Hydraulic and Pneumatic Systems
  • Strong background in manufacturing systems in dynamic fast-paced manufacturing environment
  • Working knowledge of continuous extrusion process with single and twin-screw extruders
  • Twin screw removal and setup (extruders)
  • Dense Phase blending system knowledge a plus
  • Pneumatic conveying knowledge a plus
  • Ability to read and update electrical/mechanical drawings
  • Strong decision making, analytical skills and proven ability to work cross-functionally

Responsibilities

  • Maintain the buildings and equipment in the best possible condition.
  • Ensure production lines and other equipment are maintained and reduce downtime.
  • Show consistent desire, learning, and improvement in all maintenance responsibilities, duties, and tasks.
  • Analyze and diagnose mechanical problems to properly make repairs on all production and auxiliary equipment.
  • Work autonomously and responsibly by observing all health and safety guidelines.
  • Responsible for Lock out/Tag out procedures on all equipment that are worked upon, which includes isolating all forms of energy to the equipment and placing lock with photo ID.
  • Utilize a variety of tools and equipment such as power construction equipment, measuring devices, power tools.
  • Support and assist preventative maintenance process on the shift.
  • Complete Work Orders within our e-Maint system (utilizing tablets, laptops, desktop computers).
  • Inspect and measure parts to detect wear, misalignment, or other problems.
  • Perform equipment testing steps following repair.
  • Contribute and assist in line commissioning after maintenance/process events.
  • Operate in a manner that provides value to the team.
  • Perform additional duties as needed and/or assigned by supervision/management.
  • Develop and build a strong partnership with the plant training organization.
  • Responsible for maintaining guarding and safety equipment on all production lines.
  • Depending on the plant, may support and assist preventative maintenance process on the shift.
  • Assist and participate with other plant projects as needed.
  • Ability to work in Blending, Rail, PVC or Wood Plant with little-to-no instruction.
  • Proven work experience as a team leader or supervisor.
  • In-depth knowledge of performance metrics.
  • Good PC skills, especially MS Excel, Outlook and e-Maint.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Organizational and time-management skills.
  • Decision-making skills.
  • Knowledge of trades mathematics together with the use of complicated drawings specifications, charts and tables; all varieties of precision measuring instruments.
  • Knowledge of OSHA 1910.147 Control of Hazardous Energy, OSHA 1910.331-333 Safe Electrical Practices.
  • Working knowledge of mechanical controls, hydraulics, and pneumatics.
  • Experience with industrial equipment a plus.
  • Frequently inspect facilities to proactively detect potential problems and recommend the necessary repair or maintenance. Check that the premises are safe and not in violation of any regulations.
  • Oversee and enforce good record-keeping practices (be it pen and paper or CMMS software like e-Maint).
  • Generate work orders, enter comprehensive job details, and assign work to qualified team members.
  • Work closely with vendors, outsourced service providers, and contractors to protect the interests of the facility.
  • Keep an eye on materials and spare parts inventory.
  • Help with the development of maintenance procedures and proactive maintenance programs like preventative maintenance.
  • Recommend upgrades, overhauls, and other changes to major systems and equipment.
  • Actively participate in projects (e.g. installation, remodeling or renovation).
  • Actively discuss staff-related challenges with senior management.
  • Lead and motivate the team.
  • Manage performance of your team.
  • Professionally perform and complete day-to-day equipment maintenance work.
