About The Position

American Plastics, headquartered in St. Louis, Missouri, is a leading designer and manufacturer of innovative plastic-injection molded products for the household & garage storage and commercial cleaning end-markets. We are seeking a Maintenance Technician Lead that is positive, outgoing, and energetic for our Jefferson City, MO location, reporting to the Maintenance Manager. This role involves supervising maintenance technicians, ensuring optimal machine performance, and implementing preventive maintenance programs to maximize uptime and efficiency.

Requirements

  • Prior Maintenance Technician experience required.
  • Must be able to read, write and speak English.
  • Knowledge of basic math skills.
  • Must demonstrate good judgment and decision-making ability.
  • Must possess interpersonal skills and be able to communicate on all levels.
  • Has basic ability in the following skills: welding; brazing; soldering, or silver brazing; refrigeration repair; machine shop training; fabrication in plastic; electronic repair; and/or mechanical engine repair, transmission repair, robotics.

Nice To Haves

  • Injection molding experience a plus.
  • Fork truck license, Man lift certificate, and crane operation required, will train to our specifics (not required, but a plus).
  • Must have a valid driver’s license, forklift experience or willing to learn.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise a team of maintenance technicians.
  • Assign tasks and monitor progress to ensure timely completion.
  • Provide training and development for team members.
  • Know how to troubleshoot and read electrical prints.
  • Know how to troubleshoot and debug hydraulic circuits, read machine schematics and repair.
  • Know how to troubleshoot and debug pneumatic circuits, read machine schematics and repair.
  • Know injection-molding machine general maintenance, troubleshooting, debug and repair as needed.
  • Execute lock out/tag out procedures as required on all Injection and related equipment.
  • Initiate, recommend, or provide solutions to prevent the occurrence of any downtime that can be avoided with proper preventative, predictive or continuous improvement ideas.
  • Work with equipment suppliers to determine root cause of equipment failures and implement a permanent solution.
  • Maintain Plant Facility and associated equipment.
  • Perform daily checks of all injection molding equipment as outlined on the preventive maintenance schedule.
