About The Position

Experienced Lead Tungsten Inert Gas (TIG) Welder/Fabricator specializing in stainless steel and aluminum fabrication, repair, and modification, producing high-quality components to precise specifications while supporting plant maintenance operations. Provides technical leadership, guidance, and coordination of shop fabrication activities, ensuring efficient workflow, quality workmanship, and adherence to safety standards. Serves as a welding and fabrication subject matter expert, promoting best practices and supporting complex projects from fabrication through completion.

Requirements

  • Associates degree with 7+ years of relevant experience required OR; High School diploma and 9+ years of relevant experience or technical or vocational training required
  • Advanced Tungsten Inert Gas (TIG) welding expertise on stainless steel with strong working knowledge of aluminum TIG welding, consistently producing high-precision, cosmetic-quality welds while interpreting prints and executing fabrication to exact specifications.
  • Proven ability to lead fabrication projects and guide team members, with strong knowledge of welding safety standards and industrial best practices, along with excellent English verbal and written communication skills to effectively convey and receive technical information.
  • Ability to work in an industrial environment, including standing, walking, bending, and lifting up to 50 pounds; no lifting greater than 40.09 pounds without assistance.
  • Requires manual dexterity, visual acuity for weld inspection, and the ability to lead and coordinate work under time constraints.
  • Specific vision requirements include reading of written documents and frequent use of computer monitor.

Responsibilities

  • Perform advanced Tungsten Inert Gas (TIG) welding on stainless steel components as the primary welding process, with additional TIG welding on aluminum as required.
  • Lead and execute complex fabrication projects from planning and layout through final completion, ensuring precision and efficiency.
  • Serve as the lead TIG welding resource, providing day-to-day technical direction, guidance, and support to welders and fabrication team members.
  • Fabricate components including brackets, frames, guards, and miscellaneous parts from blueprints, sketches, and technical drawings.
  • Review blueprints, weld symbols, and fabrication drawings for accuracy and feasibility, providing input and recommendations when needed.
  • Fit, tack, and perform TIG welding operations to meet strict dimensional tolerances, structural integrity, and cosmetic quality standards.
  • Inspect and verify weld quality, ensuring proper penetration, strength, and appearance consistently meet or exceed required standards.
  • Troubleshoot fabrication and TIG welding issues, implement corrective actions, and support continuous improvement in processes, safety, and efficiency.
  • Other duties as assigned.
