About The Position

The City of Greensboro is seeking a skilled Lead Maintenance Tech – Electrical to join our Building Maintenance Division. This position is ideal for an experienced electrical professional who is ready to work independently, coordinate electrical maintenance projects, mentor teammates, and help maintain the City's critical infrastructure. From fire stations and recreation centers to municipal office buildings, you'll play an important role in keeping City facilities safe, secure, and operational. The Lead Maintenance Tech – Electrical assists with electrical installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, renovation, and repair work throughout City facilities while providing technical leadership to the maintenance team. Working under the direction of the Electrician, Maintenance Mechanics, and/or Supervisor, this position coordinates electrical work, assists in project planning, and demonstrates the ability to lead others while working independently.

Requirements

  • Valid Driver’s License
  • High School Diploma/GED with 4–6 years of electrical experience
  • No High School Diploma/GED with 8-10 years of electrical experience
  • Associate’s Degree with 2+ years of electrical experience
  • Electrical troubleshooting and repair skills
  • Experience with commercial electrical systems
  • Knowledge of Card Access and CCTV systems
  • Leadership ability and sound decision-making
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Dependability and strong attendance
  • Ability to work with others
  • Commitment to safety and quality workmanship
  • Willingness to continue learning and developing professionally

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with additional trades (Carpentry, Plumbing, HVAC)
  • Previous work experience in a large commercial organization/building environment
  • Experience with computers, iPads, or general office equipment
  • Experience with Card Access & Closed Circuit TV

Responsibilities

  • Assists with installing and maintaining electrical systems.
  • Troubleshooting and repairing electrical equipment.
  • Coordinating electrical repairs and renovation projects.
  • Installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting Card Access systems.
  • Installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting CCTV systems.
  • Operating electrical hand and power tools.
  • Using computers and electronic work order systems.
  • Following OSHA safety standards and departmental procedures.
  • Mentoring less experienced employees and demonstrating best practices.
