About The Position

This role provides a range of facilities/laboratory units maintenance, security, safety, customer support, transportation, and support services to enable efficient and safe operations across the site. The Lead Maintenance Mechanic acts as a point of contact for service inquiries, technical issues, and incidents, using knowledge and experience to resolve problems directly or advance them. They respond to and document facilities, safety, security, and business-critical alarms, incidents, and emergencies, assuming operational control if necessary and liaising with internal and external collaborators, including emergency services. The role involves conducting routine and ad-hoc inspections, preventative maintenance, and repairs to offices, laboratories, technical areas, vehicles, and site infrastructure, ensuring compliance with applicable internal and external standards. Support is provided to business teams through logistical activities such as office moves, meeting support, transport arrangements, and delivery of safe and efficient personnel or materials transportation. The position also involves coordinating, tracking, and analyzing vendor, contractor, and service provider performance and efficiency, reporting relevant data and insights for business case development and operational improvement. Preparation, analysis, and presentation of reports relating to facilities performance, incident management, maintenance, compliance, and customer satisfaction are key to advising management decisions and driving continuous improvement. Adherence to and advocacy for health, safety, security, environmental, and good practice standards, maintaining up-to-date knowledge and promoting compliance within the team are essential. Sharing technical, procedural, and safety knowledge with colleagues and supporting the onboarding and informal training of new/junior staff is also part of the role. Active participation in business change initiatives, contribution to project activity, and adaptation to new systems, technology, and process improvements are expected. The role leverages lean process improvement principles to optimize outcomes and identifies ways to implement digital solutions that improve performance and efficiency. Proactive identification and proposal of opportunities for improvement to address risk and improve sustainability initiatives are encouraged.

Requirements

  • High school diploma/GED with 7 years of relevant experience, preferably in mechanical, electrical or related field.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience within a GMP biopharmaceutical or pharmaceutical manufacturing environment.
  • Strong understanding of GMP regulations, FDA guidelines, and industry best practices related to equipment maintenance and reliability.
  • Excellent communication skills and experience with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) and maintenance-related documentation in a regulated environment.
  • Knowledge of safety and environmental regulations related to facility and equipment maintenance.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite Programs Word, Excel, Outlook specifically
  • MD Class 5 Boilers License
  • Ability to read P&ID’s
  • Ability to read Schematics.
  • Strong Understanding of Building Automation Systems

Nice To Haves

  • Associate degree in mechanical, electrical, industrial maintenance, engineering technology, facilities, or a related discipline.
  • Relevant Maryland state licences or certifications, where applicable, and OSHA 30 certification.
  • Experience with risk-based maintenance, reliability-centred maintenance, condition-based maintenance, or similar reliability programmes.
  • Familiarity with Lean Six Sigma or other structured process improvement methodologies.
  • Experience supporting equipment projects, contractor coordination, financial or vendor management, change management, or service improvement initiatives.
