The Lead Engineer's responsibility is to participate in the daily Engineering responsibilities and to assist the Engineering Managers with the day-to-day activities of the Department. This role involves aiding in the scheduling of preventive maintenance, weekend work, vacations, and engineer days off. The Lead Engineer will assist in the development and implementation of Engineering Training Programs and provide leadership in the absence of Engineering Managers. They will also continue to perform Engineer's duties on an as-needed basis, maintaining a high level of urgency in responding to trouble calls. This position requires ensuring all repairs and projects are completed through proper documentation of work orders and effective communication with various stakeholders including Production Associates, Production Managers, Engineering Managers, and Engineers. The role also involves ensuring timely completion of startup and shutdown procedures, communicating during travel paths, and coordinating with the Engineering Parts Coordinator to maintain adequate parts inventory. Promoting a safe and clean working environment through 'clean as you go' procedures and adherence to safety guidelines, including daily overhead walk-through and high-pressure cylinder storage area inspections, is crucial. The Lead Engineer will assist Engineering Managers in ensuring all 7I procedures are followed and completed promptly. Essential skills include basic mechanical and electrical abilities for preventative and corrective tasks on process and facility equipment, proficiency with hand and power tools, and special equipment tools. Maintaining high personal integrity, honest communication, and respect for others is expected. The role requires completing daily computer tasks for PM and work orders, ensuring accuracy and clarity in documentation. This includes ensuring the operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance on engines, motors, pneumatics, hydraulics, electrical control systems, conveyor systems, and production machines. The ability to follow diagrams, operations manuals, manufacturer's instructions, and engineering specifications for troubleshooting is necessary. Punctuality and adherence to all safety policies, general manufacturing policies, and food safety guidelines are mandatory. The position may involve requisitioning repair parts and requires a motivated individual eager to increase knowledge and gain experience in all aspects of the Maintenance field.
