About The Position

Vanderbilt Health is seeking a Lead Maintenance Engineer 3 to serve as a senior technical resource for the maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and continuous operation of facility infrastructure, building systems, and critical equipment supporting healthcare operations. This role provides advanced expertise in electrical, mechanical, plumbing, HVAC, emergency power, and utility systems. The Lead Maintenance Engineer will coordinate complex maintenance activities, mentor less experienced staff, independently diagnose and resolve system failures, prioritize work to minimize operational disruptions, and ensure compliance with safety, regulatory, and organizational standards. Requirements

High School Diploma or GED
5 years of relevant work experience

Responsibilities

Manage and prioritize work orders and preventive maintenance activities to ensure timely completion, regulatory compliance, and minimal disruption to facility operations.
Assign work orders and preventive maintenance tasks based on staff qualifications, workload demands, operational priorities, and service level expectations.
Coordinate daily maintenance operations, repairs, and facility support activities to maintain a safe, efficient, and reliable care environment.
Provide oversight and direction to maintenance personnel, ensuring work is completed safely, accurately, and in accordance with established standards and procedures.
Serve as the primary technical resource for complex facility, equipment, and infrastructure issues by assisting staff with advanced troubleshooting, diagnostics, and repair strategies.
Coordinate and manage outside contractors and vendors for specialized repairs, inspections, and services that fall outside the scope of in-house maintenance capabilities.
Research, source, and procure parts, materials, tools, and equipment necessary to support preventive and corrective maintenance activities while maintaining cost effectiveness.
Collaborate closely with department leadership, clinical stakeholders, and facility management to identify, communicate, and resolve ongoing operational and facility-related issues.
Plan, coordinate, and communicate scheduled utility interruptions, equipment shutdowns, and system outages to minimize operational impact and ensure continuity of services.
Monitor maintenance performance, identify opportunities for process improvement, and recommend solutions that enhance equipment reliability, operational efficiency, and customer satisfaction.
Support emergency response activities and coordinate maintenance team efforts during facility emergencies, utility failures, and other critical events.
Maintain accurate maintenance records, work order documentation, inventory transactions, and regulatory compliance reports.
