The Lead Locate Technician supports field operations by providing advanced technical expertise, mentoring team members, and ensuring consistent service quality. This role acts as a bridge between Locate Technicians and Supervisors, helping resolve complex issues and maintain operational flow. The role involves maintaining expert-level knowledge of maps, SLD/FB data, and locating tools, troubleshooting complex locate issues, supporting damage investigations, and ensuring accurate and timely marking of underground utilities (gas, water, sewer, electric, fiber). Additionally, the Lead Locate Technician monitors technician queues, assists with scheduling and ticket prioritization, analyzes support metrics, and participates in team meetings, potentially providing after-hours support. The position also requires maintaining high standards of customer satisfaction, addressing escalated concerns, and communicating effectively with excavation crews, clients, and internal teams. Proactively identifying areas for improvement and contributing to initiatives that enhance service quality and operational efficiency are also key aspects of this role.
