About The Position

Dexcom Corporation (NASDAQ DXCM) is a global leader in continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) and is expanding its vision beyond diabetes to empower people to take control of their health. The legal team is growing, and we are seeking an experienced attorney to serve as one of Dexcom’s Lead Legal Counsel, Employment. This role will report to the Vice President, Employment, Corporate Governance & Privacy, and will support employment law for the North America region. You will collaborate with a team of attorneys and business partners globally, coordinating daily with local human resource leaders to support our growing employee population.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 8 years of related employment law experience at a top-tier law firm and/or in-house (preferred).
  • Comfortable presenting to, counseling, and interacting with Human Resources and business leaders.
  • Recognized as an expert in your field within the organization.
  • Committed to teamwork and maintaining strong relationships and lines of communication with business partners and other key stakeholders across the organization.
  • Excellent decision-making skills, practical business judgment, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work in person in the San Diego office as required, local within 75 miles is strongly preferred.
  • Typically requires a Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 8-12 years of related experience.
  • At this level a graduate degree may be desirable with 4 years of related experience.

Responsibilities

  • Partner closely with Human Resources and business partners to provide day-to-day counseling.
  • Supervise investigations.
  • Evaluate legal risks and provide subject matter expertise on a broad range of labor and employment issues, including recruiting and hiring, training, employee management, complex leaves of absences, and HR best practices.
  • Proactively develop, update, and implement employment policies and programs (including hiring practices, performance management, employee relations, internal investigations, terminations, leaves of absence, accommodations, compensation, and benefits) to ensure best practices and compliance with applicable laws and regulations in partnership with HR subject matter experts.
  • Collaborate with the Human Resources team to generate, update, and implement training on HR and employment law topics.
  • Manage pre-litigation and litigation disputes related to employment matters, including preparing litigation holds and document gathering.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to provide strategic, business-oriented employment law guidance for a global organization.
  • Utilize outside counsel as needed.
