About The Position

As a pivotal member of our team, the Service & Collision Learning Experience Designer will play a critical role in designing and developing innovative, impactful, and scalable learning solutions tailored to the needs of our rapidly growing Technical Service teams. This position requires a blend of instructional design expertise, user-centric learning principles, and a deep understanding of systems and technology integration. The ideal candidate will not only create engaging, high-quality learning experiences across multiple modalities (ILT, OLT, VILT) but also provide coaching and mentoring to others in the learning and development process. In this role, the Learning Experience Designer will collaborate closely with key stakeholders from Service Engineering, Tooling, Documentation, and Systems teams to ensure that learning solutions align with both current and future organizational needs. You will serve as a thought leader in the design and deployment of learning experiences, while also guiding others in the application of best practices. Success in this position will require a strategic mindset, the ability to lead by example, and a commitment to continuously elevating the skill sets of both the Service teams and the learning development community

Requirements

  • Extensive experience in instructional design, particularly in developing learning solutions for technical or service teams
  • Extensive knowledge of instructional design, eLearning software (Articulate 360 and Google Suite preferred)
  • Extensive experience supporting a Learning Management System, specifically Cornerstone On Demand
  • Experience with video content creation and editing (Adobe Premiere, Final Cut Pro, or Synthesia)
  • Familiarity with other learning technology solutions (HTML, AR/VR, CGI, 3D imaging) and tech stacks
  • Experience using industry standard learning methodologies (ADDIE) to design learning programs for various levels of Service employees
  • Ability to simplify complex technical concepts into digestible and consumable content
  • 8+ years of experience with proven success in similar role
  • 5+ years experience in Graphic Design
  • Strong background in mentoring and coaching others within the learning and development field
  • Ability to balance strategic vision with hands-on execution and day-to-day learning development
  • Self-motivated individual with knowledge in instructor led (ILT) training, virtual learning, eLearning, and on-the-job (OJT) methodologies
  • Sense of pride in work, willingness to take responsibility and committed to working as a member of the team
  • Communicates effectively by delivering clear and compelling messages to Stakeholders and learners alike
  • Ability to analyze logically and navigate ambiguity
  • Familiarity with adult learning principles, theories, concepts and development technologies or modalities, practical experience and application of training development models
  • Able to manage a design project management end to end
  • Ability to meet aggressive timelines for deliverables, with accuracy, quality and attention to detail
  • Organized with strong ability to prioritize and effectively manage multiple projects simultaneously

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, development, and deployment of scalable learning solutions for Service and Collision teams, utilizing diverse modalities (ILT, OLT, VILT)
  • Partner with Service, Collision and 3rd party stakeholders and L&D team to build technical and non-technical training based on needs assessment in individual departments
  • Expertise with e-learning platforms and practices to design engaging eLearning material in adaptive learning methods
  • Up to date with industry trends and interest in creating innovative learning solutions through using new technologies (such as AR/VR, CGI, 3D imaging, etc.)
  • Coach and mentor junior instructional designers, developers, and subject matter experts in the creation of high-quality learning content
  • Partner with internal and external stakeholders and liaise with experts regarding development needs
  • Assess, design, structure, and implement learning strategies and programs, including the development of learning pathways, to ensure accessibility and progression for technicians at different skill levels
  • Develop data strategy using metrics to inform future training decisions as well as evaluate course effectiveness
  • Support learning program initiatives and projects by using your expertise in designing, developing, planning, implementing, and assessing learning content
  • Build relationships across the company, Collision, and 3rd party networks to be able to understand high-value opportunities
  • Create design documents outlining course objectives, content, assessment, and evaluation criteria
  • Develop assessments and metrics to gauge employee performance and program outcomes; transform data into meaningful and engaging executive style summaries/presentations
  • Organize and assist in developing learning manuals, pre-work and course evaluation procedures (inclusive of multimedia visual aids and other educational materials)
  • Create effective eLearning’s and facilitator guides to help grow and scale the Learning and Development at Rivian
  • Design Google Slides for ILTs and briefings
  • Introduce new Generative AI tools to drive efficiency and consistency across learning programs
  • Advise on best practices for deployment in the LMS
  • Leverage system functionality to create more innovative and engaging learning experiences
