About The Position

This position performs day-to-day tasks to maintain a clean environment in a health care organization and assists the manager with creating work assignments for the day's schedule for Laundry Technicians. Depending on the location, the technician will complete assigned tasks based on standard processes and policies, and assist Laundry Technicians with their day-to-day responsibilities. This role involves working independently or in a team environment, ensuring safe and appropriate handling of laundry through proper methods and techniques, including sorting, washing, chemical application, and temperature control, while adhering to infection prevention guidelines and healthcare industrial laundry standards. The technician may operate laundry equipment, report needs for repairs or replacements, and record, report, and prepare soiled laundry for pick-up. They also assist with ordering clean laundry deliveries based on location standards and document all linen picked up or delivered. Proper personal protective equipment (PPE) must be used or worn as outlined in the location's standard processes and policies. Physical activities include considerable use of arms and legs, moving the whole body through climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, twisting, squatting, and handling materials. The ability to lift and/or move up to 30-50 lbs and push/pull up to 500 lbs on flat surfaces or up/down ramps is required. The individual will be on their feet for the majority of their shift and may be exposed to noise from operating equipment. Work hours may vary depending on patient/resident needs and may include overtime, call, backup call, nights, days, weekends, and holidays.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 19 years old.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and good driving record (depending on location).
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • A minimum of two years of experience in a supervisory role is preferred.
  • Previous laundry or production experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform day to day tasks to maintain a clean environment in a health care organization.
  • Assist the manager with creation of work assignments for that day’s schedule for Laundry Technicians.
  • Complete assigned tasks based on standard processes and policies.
  • Assist the Laundry Technicians with their day to day responsibilities.
  • Handle laundry safely and appropriately using correct equipment, methods, and techniques such as; sorting, washing, any chemical application, or water temperature.
  • Follow infection prevention guidelines according to organizational and healthcare industrial laundry standards.
  • Operate laundry equipment and report any needs for repairs or replacements.
  • Report the shortage or failure of equipment for purchase or repair.
  • Record, report, prepare soiled laundry for pick-up.
  • Assist with ordering clean laundry that is delivered to the healthcare organization based on that locations standard processes and policies.
  • Document all linen that is picked-up or delivered.
  • Use or wear all proper protective equipment (PPE) as outlined in that locations standard processes and policies.
