Requirements

• Proficiency in phlebotomy techniques and medical/laboratory phlebotomy terminology required.
• Ability to operate computer input terminal.
• Ability to perform phlebotomy techniques including special procedures such as blood cultures, finger and heel sticks.
• Communication skills to include fluent English.
• Interpersonal skills to include positive team building and the ability to resolve conflicts in a positive manner.
• Well-developed organizational skills.
• Ability to exercise a high degree of initiative, judgment and independent action.
• Excellent customer service skills required.
• Current California CPT (Certified Phlebotomy Technician) certificate.
• BLS required.

Nice To Haves

• Two years acute care hospital laboratory experience preferred.
• Leadership experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs venipunctures on adults and pediatrics and micro collection on infants.
• Performs routine laboratory processes.
• Participates in data entry, specimen processing and communicates with clients to help resolve specimen concerns as required.
• Directs activity of phlebotomists during shift, under the direct supervision of the CLS supervisors, to include scheduling, training, daily workloads, staff and client problem resolution and supply inventory.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
