About The Position

Performs preventive, predictable maintenance and repairs on commercial kitchen equipment and provides guidance to Kitchen Mechanics. Maintains and repairs commercial kitchen equipment by routinely inspecting steamers, broilers, grills and appliances, repairing or replacing broken or defective parts, scheduling routine inspections, and performing preventative maintenance services as required. Maintains and organizes parts and inventory by receiving and labeling ordering parts and fixtures on designated shelves logging and accounting for parts and fixtures received and used, analyzing logs to determine the frequency of use and need for replacement, and keeping track of owner's manuals, warranty expiration dates, and service bulletins. Maintains a safe work and storage area by cleaning and organizing designated storage area, storing tools and materials, repairing or replacing old or broken tools following established procedures, and following established safety standards while using tools. Assists Chief Engineer on kitchen projects by providing guidance to team members, monitoring performance, and reporting out of compliance behaviors to the Maintenance Supervisor as needed.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D.
  • 5 years experience in commercial kitchen equipment maintenance and repair
  • 2 years vocational training and/or related experience
  • 2 years plumbing and pipe fitting experience
  • Ability to read and understand schematics and blueprints
  • Ability to read, interpret and apply technical information
  • Working knowledge of electrical components related to position
  • Ability to perform installations, repairs, and preventive maintenance on commercial kitchen equipment
  • Ability to document and track assignments through a shop log or work order system
  • Ability to perform mathematical calculations and measurement
  • Ability to use testing and repair tools and equipment
  • Ability to communicate effectively in the English language
  • Ability to read in the English language
  • Ability to interact effectively with guests and Team Members
  • Ability to understand and follow verbal directives and written directions
  • Ability to work in a team-oriented environment with little or no supervision
  • Ability to reach, crouch, bend and kneel
  • Ability to work in confined spaces
