About The Position

Responsible for the on-going operations and supervision of the Environmental Services Department. This role involves monitoring staff performance, creating schedules, training custodial staff, managing supplies and equipment, and performing inventory. The Lead Kitchen Custodian also performs equipment maintenance, acts as a custodian when needed, and provides excellent guest service. This position leads the evaluation process for assigned staff and provides input to the department manager.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 4 years related experience with a minimum of 1 year supervisory experience or combination of education and experience.
  • Must be able to communicate in English
  • Must have knowledge of cleaning chemicals and equipment.
  • Must be able to handle multiple tasks in a timely manner.
  • Must be able to stand, move and work throughout the office area and properties, including walking up to 1 ½ mile, climbing stairs and sitting at a desk/work station for the duration of the shift.
  • Must be able to work in a smoke-filled environment.
  • Must be able to grasp, bend, lift and/or carry or otherwise move goods weighing a minimum of 25 lbs. on an intermittent basis, and sufficient dexterity of hand in order to use office equipment including, but not limited to: a computer keyboard, calculator, general office equipment and multi-line telephone.

Responsibilities

  • Monitors the performance of subordinate staff, ensuring adherence to department policies and procedures.
  • Creates schedules, daily and monthly rotation of sections and monitors time off requests.
  • Monitors performance and attendance of staff and adherence to company policies and procedures.
  • Trains the custodial staff and ensures that performance standards are met.
  • Monitors supplies and equipment.
  • Performs inventory of supplies, receives and checks in deliveries and reports discrepancies to Manager.
  • Equipment maintenance on a daily basis, must check all equipment before starting and ending shift.
  • Performs duties of custodian when needed.
  • Provides excellent guest service to both guest and internal clients.
  • Leads the evaluation process for assigned staff and provides substantial input to the department manager about the performance of assigned staff.
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.
  • Assists the Manager with training employees; planning, assisting and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Must follow chain of command.
