About The Position

The Lead Janitor position is responsible for maintaining a neat and clean building at all times. Staff will be required to perform the necessary work to maintain the optimum level of cleanliness in every building or worksite serviced by FlagShip. This role involves a comprehensive range of janitorial duties to ensure the facility is kept in excellent condition.

Requirements

Must have good listening and verbal communication skills
Ability to speak/understand English (for some positions)
Must maintain a neat appearance
A uniform is required at some worksites
Must attend periodic training and safety meetings
Must be able to understand and anticipate the needs of the clients
Must be punctual
Authorized to work in the U.S.

Nice To Haves

High School Diploma or GED equivalent
6 months of experience in commercial facilities and building janitorial work
Knowledge of basic janitorial duties and responsibilities

Responsibilities

Sweeps, vacuums, mops, scrubs, waxes and polishes floors using industrial vacuum cleaners and scrubbing and buffing machines
Dusts and washes walls, cleans ceilings and dusts and polishes light fixtures, sometimes using ladders
Washes and replaces blinds
Moves cabinets, boxes, furniture, crates and equipment to clean areas
May remove stains from surfaces such as rugs, drapes, walls, and floors using chemicals and cleaning solutions
May sweep walks, rake leaves, cut grass, remove snow or perform other incidental seasonal tasks
Sweeps, vacuums, mops, scrubs floors using industrial vacuum cleaners and scrubbing machines
Dusts and washes walls, windows, ledges, cleans ceilings and dusts, remove trash, heavy lifting up to 50lbs, sometimes using ladders
Move boxes, furniture and grates to clean areas
Applies protection applications to walls floors and equipment
Removes protective applications from wall floors and equipment
Empty waste baskets and replace liners in carpeted areas
Dust/clean tops of office furniture in carpeted areas
Vacuum all carpeting in carpeted areas
Spot clean soiled areas on carpets as needed in carpeted areas
Clean glass on lobby door in carpeted areas
Sweep and mop tile areas in carpeted areas
Empty waste baskets and replace liners as needed in lunchroom/break areas
Wipe/clean all table tops and chairs in lunchroom/break areas
Wipe/clean vending machines and appliances in lunchroom/break areas
Clean sink and counter areas in lunchroom/break areas
Sweep and mop tile floors in lunchroom/break areas
Empty waste baskets and replace liners as needed in restrooms
Clean and sanitize toilets, basins, and urinals in restrooms
Sweep and mop floors with disinfectant in restrooms
Spot clean walls, partitions and doors in restrooms
Refill all restroom dispensers as needed in restrooms
Empty waste baskets and replace liners as needed in non-carpeted areas
Sweep and spot mop tile floors in non-carpeted areas
Complete damp mop tile floors in non-carpeted areas
Dust/clean cleared desks and surfaces of tables in non-carpeted areas
Clean overhead vents periodically
Dust blinds periodically
Polish wood furniture periodically
Dust high partitions and ledges periodically
Clean interior partition glass periodically
Keep janitor’s closet neat and orderly
Properly maintain equipment (such as vacuums) at all times
