Lead Infrastructure & Platform Engineer

StudyFetchBeverly Hills, CA
$170,000 - $270,000Onsite

About The Position

We're a technology company building AI-native learning products used by more than seven million students worldwide, alongside Honen, our workforce-learning platform for organizations. Both run on the Learn Engine, the intelligence that moves a learner from initial understanding to demonstrated mastery. We work with partners like NVIDIA to bring responsible, learning-first AI to the students who need it most. All of that runs on a mature, infrastructure-as-code platform: cloud, Kubernetes, networking, deploy tooling, databases, and the GPUs serving that powers our AI. We're hiring a lead to own that platform and take it further as we scale. This is a high-ownership role. You'll be the person the rest of engineering depends on to ship, and you'll set the patterns for how we deploy, secure, and operate. You'll also lead the next chapter: we're building out our own GPU infrastructure inside a colocation facility, which means real networking, capacity planning, and bare-metal platform work sitting alongside our cloud footprint. If you want a surface where the decisions are yours and the impact reaches millions of learners, this is it.

Requirements

  • 7+ years building and operating production infrastructure, with deep expertise in cloud platforms, Kubernetes, and networking.
  • OR founding or early infrastructure engineer who owned a significant share of a real platform, demonstrating the ability to take production infrastructure from early stages to reliability.
  • Hands-on experience running production infrastructure that real users depend on.
  • Hands-on experience with physical or colocation infrastructure (bare-metal provisioning, datacenter/colo networking, hardware/capacity planning, GPU fleets, or hybrid on-prem/cloud setups).
  • Fluency in modern cloud and Kubernetes.
  • Proficiency with infrastructure-as-code.
  • Experience with AI and informed opinions about it, understanding the demands of serving models in production.
  • Experience working through launch crunches and maintaining effectiveness under pressure.
  • Ability to be candid about tradeoffs and discuss past surprises and future improvements.
  • Motivation driven by the mission of changing how the world learns and impacting learners.

Nice To Haves

  • Deep understanding of GCP, Cloudflare, Vercel.
  • Experience with Pulumi or Terraform.
  • Experience with GKE, Helm, container build pipelines, Jenkins or similar CI/CD tools.
  • Expertise in VPC design, IPAM, firewalls, DNS/TLS, zero-trust access.
  • Experience with physical and datacenter networking.
  • Experience with GPU cluster operations, model/inference serving (e.g., vLLM), ASR/speech workloads, cost and latency tuning.
  • Experience with bare-metal provisioning, capacity planning, hybrid on-prem + cloud setups.
  • Experience with PostgreSQL and MongoDB, managed caches (Redis/Valkey), backups and disaster recovery.
  • Experience with monitoring and alerting, incident response, least-privilege IAM, secrets management, SOC 2-grade compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Own the platform, end to end: infrastructure-as-code (Pulumi/TypeScript on GCP), Kubernetes clusters, Shared VPC and networking, CI/CD and deploy tooling, secrets, and databases.
  • Ensure reliability and manage on-call responsibilities, including monitoring, alerting, incident response, and postmortems.
  • Design and build the company's own GPU infrastructure in a colocation facility, including hardware and capacity planning, physical and virtual networking, and the platform layer for model serving.
  • Manage the GPU serving platform, including clusters and pipelines for self-hosted models and speech/ASR workloads, optimizing for latency, cost, and utilization.
  • Maintain security and compliance posture (SOC 2, continuous scanning, least-privilege IAM) without hindering team velocity.
  • Set the patterns for deployment, security, and operation for the entire engineering team.
  • Shape and help grow the infrastructure team as the work expands.

Benefits

  • $170,000–$270,000 base salary, plus equity
  • 100% employer-paid Medical, Dental, and Vision
  • 75% dependent coverage for Medical, Dental, and Vision
  • 401(k) with employer matching
  • Daily team dinner provided in-office
