About The Position

The Lead Infrastructure Engineer on the Mission Control team plays a critical role in setting technical direction and building, operating, and evolving the cloud infrastructure that supports reliable, secure, and scalable product delivery. This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for turning platform needs, application requirements, and operational constraints into automated infrastructure, developer workflows, and team execution plans. Working across cloud infrastructure, DevOps, production operations, and engineering leadership, this role partners closely with Engineering, Product, Security, Data, and domain Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to ensure teams can ship quickly without compromising reliability, security, or compliance. This role leads the development and evolution of core systems, spanning cloud environments, CI/CD, infrastructure as code, containerized workloads, observability, secrets management, networking, data infrastructure, and deployment automation within a regulated, high-stakes environment. Success requires strong systems thinking, pragmatic engineering judgment, and the ability to guide a small, elite team through ambiguity. The Lead Infrastructure Engineer is expected to operate in an AI-native engineering environment, using modern coding agents, automation tools, and rapid prototyping workflows to improve delivery speed and infrastructure quality. In parallel, this individual will help create the foundation for AI-enabled product capabilities by ensuring the underlying systems are dependable, observable, secure, cost-aware, and easy to use.

Requirements

  • 5-8+ years building, operating, and improving production infrastructure, internal platforms, or DevOps systems
  • 2+ years as a tech lead, staff-level project lead, TLM, or hands-on leader guiding projects and mentoring engineers
  • Deep experience with AWS, GCP, or Azure, including compute, networking, storage, IAM, and managed services
  • Strong hands-on infrastructure as code experience, preferably Terraform or a comparable framework, with reusable module design
  • Experience with CI/CD, deployment automation, release workflows, and modern DevOps practices at platform scale
  • Comfort working with containers and orchestration technologies such as Docker, Kubernetes, ECS, or similar platforms
  • Ability to write scripts or production-quality automation in Python, Go, Rust, Bash, TypeScript, or a similar language
  • Experience leading production operations with observability, alerting, incident response, runbooks, and post-incident improvement
  • Working knowledge of cloud security fundamentals, including IAM, network segmentation, secrets management, encryption, and secure configuration practices
  • Track record improving developer velocity, cloud cost efficiency, reliability, deployment safety, or operational maturity
  • Excellent communication, prioritization, and judgment in ambiguity, with the ability to align technical and non-technical stakeholders

Nice To Haves

  • Experience operating as a Technical Lead or Tech Lead Manager responsible for both technical implementation, technical direction, and people development
  • Experience building infrastructure, internal platforms, or developer tools for fast-moving product engineering teams
  • Experience in fintech, mortgage, lending, payments, insurance, or other regulated domains
  • Experience supporting AI and data infrastructure, including secure access to model platforms, data pipelines, vector databases, or GPU-enabled workloads

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, build, and operation of cloud infrastructure across major platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure with a focus on reliability, scalability, security, and cost discipline
  • Establish reusable infrastructure patterns and technical standards that help product teams provision, deploy, and operate services consistently
  • Own high-impact infrastructure initiatives from strategy and design through hands-on implementation, production rollout, monitoring, and iteration
  • Lead and contribute hands-on to infrastructure as code using tools such as Terraform, Pulumi, Bicep, CloudFormation, or similar frameworks
  • Automate repeatable operational workflows, environment provisioning, configuration management, deployment tasks, and team operating routines
  • Raise infrastructure quality through clear modules, versioning, documentation, testing, code review, and pragmatic standards
  • Partner with Engineering teams and technical leaders to improve CI/CD pipelines, release workflows, build systems, and deployment safety
  • Reduce friction for developers by guiding the creation of self-service tools, templates, runbooks, and paved-path workflows
  • Set pragmatic guardrails that balance speed and control so teams can move quickly while maintaining strong production and change-management practices
  • Lead production operations confidently, including deployments, incident response, troubleshooting, escalation management, and post-incident follow-up
  • Define and improve observability across logs, metrics, traces, alerts, dashboards, service health indicators, and operational reviews
  • Drive architecture and operational decisions that improve uptime, performance, resilience, maintainability, and team effectiveness
  • Anticipate and address reliability risks before they become customer-impacting issues, and coach others to build the same operational judgment
  • Establish secure infrastructure patterns, access controls, secrets management, and least-privilege practices across services and environments
  • Support compliance-aware engineering practices appropriate for a regulated fintech environment and help teams apply them pragmatically
  • Monitor infrastructure utilization and cost, identifying opportunities to improve efficiency without reducing reliability or delivery velocity
  • Mentor and manage a lean, elite team of infrastructure engineers through clear goals, technical coaching, feedback, and high standards
  • Translate ambiguous business, product, and operational needs into clear technical plans, milestones, sequencing, risks, and execution paths for the team
  • Set a culture of ownership, curiosity, pragmatism, operational excellence, and engineering craft while remaining deeply hands-on
  • Coordinate delivery across engineers and partner teams, helping remove blockers, manage dependencies, clarify ownership, and keep work moving with urgency and discipline
