The Lead Infant Teacher is responsible for maintaining compliance with NAEYC code of ethics, city and state regulations, and accreditation requirements for early education and care programs. This role involves overseeing the planning, implementation, and communication of high-quality, age-appropriate programming that addresses individual, small, and large group needs. The Lead Infant Teacher will maintain and demonstrate a high level of evidence-based practice through program design, communication, and work products. They will oversee responsive, developmentally appropriate classroom care, guiding children's behavior and engagement through methods such as inquiry, redirection, verbalizing feelings, encouraging problem-solving, and setting consistent limits to help children develop inner control. This position requires completing clear documentation and written reports to facilitate communication with parents, co-workers, and regulatory agents, including daily reports, lesson plans, newsletters, training evidence, and professional development plans. The Lead Infant Teacher will also review and provide feedback to Teachers on all written communications and prepared materials, and use a variety of communication strategies to support constructive relationships by being accessible, approachable, and engaged. They will integrate family requests and traditions into the classroom and provide non-judgmental support for parents, responding quickly to concerns. Additionally, the role includes conducting tours and orienting new families to the program. The Lead Infant Teacher will participate in improving organizational performance by recommending areas for improvement, utilizing technology, performing new procedures, collecting data, and providing input to department discussions. They will provide leadership, guidance, and coaching to Teachers and volunteers, contribute to probationary and annual reviews, and play an active role in maintaining budget targets by recommending purchases, staffing structures, and process efficiencies. Finally, the Lead Infant Teacher will assess each child's development using progress reports, screening instruments, direct observation, and information from families and other stakeholders, overseeing, coordinating, compiling, and communicating assessment information for the classroom, and linking assessment information with success-oriented growth opportunities in all developmental domains. This role provides oversight of care and supervision in the classroom or childcare setting and provides work direction to staff.
