About The Position

The Lead Imaging Electronics Specialist is the highest experienced, specialized technician who performs the responsibility of the Imaging and Senior Imaging Technician and has a wide depth and breadth with a majority of the highly sophisticated diagnostic imaging and radiation therapy equipment. This role demonstrates mastery and comprehensive knowledge of practices and procedures necessary for assessment, installation, preventive maintenance, service, trouble shooting, calibration, ensuring the safety of equipment, and accurate documentation for multiple modalities of highly sophisticated diagnostic imaging and radiation therapy equipment. This includes Positron Emission Tomography (PET), and Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) imaging systems, linear accelerators, simulators, stereotactic systems, treatment planning systems, and other systems specific to radiation therapy. This position will be responsible for data mining and reporting for Biomedical Services and other leadership and will lead designated internal projects that promote quality, safety, and cost-effective service. The Lead Imaging Electronics Specialist serves as a trainer and mentor to other imaging staff members. Requirements

  • DMV Record Check
  • Associate of Applied Science Degree from a Biomedical Electronics Program; OR Bachelor's degree in biomedical engineering technology; OR Associate degree in electronics, electrical engineering, or related technology field combined with completion of college level course work in basic chemistry and basic anatomy/physiology.
  • Consideration will be given to military training with 10 years of hospital or field service experience.
  • Original Equipment Manufacturer or equivalent training and certification with demonstrated expertise in at least four specific high end diagnostic imaging and/or Radiation Oncology modalities applicable to equipment currently in use at MyMichigan Health system.
  • Certified in understanding of DICOM standards, imaging technology, radiology equipment service and vendor techniques.
  • Field service or In-House Biomed experience in a hospital setting with 10+ years imaging equipment service experience.
  • Advanced troubleshooting and technical skills level as assessed in specialized imaging equipment repair, PM, Safety test, calibration, and record keeping are required.
  • Interpersonal skills needed to communicate successfully with individuals and groups and interact with people at all levels to communicate ideas and concepts in a clear and understandable manner.

Responsibilities

  • Performs repairs and preventive maintenance primarily on CT, PET, Nuclear Medicine, MRI imaging and/or radiation therapy equipment, to include integrated software and network troubleshooting and configuration of advanced imaging and therapy systems.
  • Provides initial assessment, problem verification, and troubleshooting on the equipment and oversees all maintenance activities of outside service provided by OEM’s and ISO’s for this equipment.
  • Must understand Joint Commission, other regulatory compliance, and OSHA guidelines, safety procedures, and other emergency procedures.
  • Interact daily with hospital equipment users, leadership and physicians concerning service coordination and usage issues for high end imaging equipment.
  • Effectively handles all service emergencies and necessary communication with Vendor, Clinical Department, Supervisor, and System Manager of Biomedical Services.
  • Develop, manage, and monitor data analytic needs for Biomedical services.
  • Lead assigned projects such as new machine replacements, new capital, and quality/safety meetings.
  • Develop and maintain records for projects, communicate with stakeholders, and monitor for any additional project initiatives.
  • Serves as mentor and trainer to the Imaging and Senior Imaging Technicians.
  • Participates in continuing education, performance improvement initiatives, and Net Learning requirements.
  • Plans and provides in-services and cross trains other techs for expanded back-up support.
  • Exhibits a INDEPTH understanding and can communicate the use of devices supported.
  • Provides SPECIALIZED technical support of complex imaging equipment and systems used for diagnostic testing and direct patient care.
  • Has specialized experience in their assigned clinical and imaging environment and has in-depth understanding of the operations they support, such as hospitals, urgent cares, health parks, mobile units, and clinics, etc.
  • Demonstrates mastery of diagnostic imaging, radiation oncology equipment, and intricately networked medical systems so that work beyond single devices can be expertly accomplished and reported.
  • Can successfully solve organizational level customer service issues and complaints.
  • Possesses advanced understanding and skills in mechanical, electro-mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and electronic systems, imaging test equipment and calibration tools and devices.
  • Has advance knowledge and leadership with working experience in project management terms and methods.
  • Has an advanced understanding and complies with all local and national safety regulations for JCAHO, Rural Health Compliance, HIPAA, MMH Radiation Safety, and all other as necessary.
  • High Level analytical skills and comprehensive writing and communication skills are required.
  • Maintains a high-level business rapport with clinical customers and other support departments by rounding and communicating effectively as required.
  • Ability to efficiently perform and teach administrative duties of the job.
  • Demonstrated initiative and willingness for continuing education, in-services on new equipment along with equipment seminars, and manufacturer schools and performs teach-back and mentorship to other technicians for expanded back-up support.
  • Ability to handle On Call as assigned.
  • High level understanding of the departmental Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) and recording work in that system per department processes and policies.
  • Presents and operationalizes departmental improvements to Supervisor and leadership as appropriate.
