About The Position

Iona University is seeking a Lead HVAC Technician to install, maintain, repair, and inspect mechanical equipment and electrical systems, including specialized HVAC systems, boiler plants, dormitories, Administration, classrooms, and office buildings. The role requires expert knowledge in industrial equipment such as 120-ton chillers, cooling towers, VRF systems, BAS systems and controls, and VFD drives, with the ability to troubleshoot and maintain these systems. The technician will also be responsible for servicing and repairing various appliances and maintaining central steam, water, and chemical water treatment systems. Requirements

High school diploma
HVAC universal license
10 years in the mechanical field
Expertise and troubleshooting ability for industrial heating and cooling systems along with electrical and wiring proficiency.

Responsibilities

Install, maintain, repair, and inspect mechanical equipment and electrical systems including specialized HVAC systems, boiler plants, dormitories, Administration, classrooms and office buildings.
Must possess expert knowledge in industrial equipment such as 120 ton chillers, Cooling towers, VRF systems, BAS systems and controls, VFD drives and have the ability to troubleshoot and maintain these systems.
Installs, services, and repairs electric motors, heaters, coolers, refrigerators, and other related equipment using various hand and power tools of the maintenance trades.
Installs, maintains, and repairs air compressors and other air conditioning equipment using various machine tools.
Services and repairs appliances such as fans, washing machines, refrigerators, fan coil units, boilers and air conditioners using machine and hand tools.
Maintains central steam, water and chemical water treatment systems, as well as other systems, using gauges and other test instruments to diagnose malfunctions and mechanic hand and power tools to disassemble, repair, and reassemble system components.
Fabricates, assembles, and tests parts as needed, such as various pumps, valves, heaters, compressors, experimental fire equipment, and other mechanical system parts using common hand tools, power tools, and torches.
Replaces fuses, light bulbs, circuit breakers, electric switches, and other electrical equipment following electrical specifications.
May assist in training lower-level HVAC Mechanics and others.
Drives a truck for general hauling of supplies, equipment, and material.
May requisition equipment, materials, and supplies.
Performs related work as assigned.
