The Lead HVAC Mechanic will be responsible for the installation, repair, and maintenance of all types of HVAC equipment at a journeyman level of service including air-conditioning equipment, refrigeration equipment, HVAC control systems, and more. This is a union position with a shift from 7:00 am to 4:00 pm. The role involves performing maintenance, diagnostic testing, overhauling, installation, and repairs on a wide variety of HVAC systems and controls within critically controlled environmental installations. The Lead HVAC Mechanic will also research specifications, make installation corrections, perform preventative maintenance, and conduct a variety of building maintenance tasks. This position requires the ability to function independently and/or in teams, make decisions, and provide sound recommendations concerning HVAC operations and maintenance. Fabrication, assembly, and installation of ductwork and chassis parts, as well as cutting and bending tubing and pipes, are also key responsibilities. The role includes connecting motors, compressors, controls, and panels, installing filters, injecting refrigerant, testing systems, and repairing electrical wiring. Minor plumbing duties are also part of the job.
