About The Position

The Lead Host position at Kalamazoo Country Club involves managing interpersonal interactions with a strong focus on member needs and ensuring effective communication with all business contacts. This role requires understanding member service needs, maintaining a professional presentation, and engaging in continuous training for product knowledge and service standards. Key responsibilities include maintaining confidentiality of member information, organizing service steps for productivity, and accurately handling all financial transactions. The position demands the ability to take direction, learn quickly, and apply information for the benefit of the club and its members, all while working efficiently in a fast-paced environment and collaborating effectively with colleagues. Adherence to Greenleaf Hospitality Group policies and procedures is essential, as is the efficient resolution of member requests and the proactive delivery of personalized experiences. The Lead Host will answer questions about hotel and club outlets, amenities, and services, operate phones professionally, and manage the seating flow to maximize capacity and ensure proper section rotation. This role also involves organizing reservations, handling private party contracts, greeting members warmly, and communicating group contact needs for private events to staff. Assistance with event functions, from reservation and booking to contract and execution, is required, along with maintaining accurate event receipts and spreadsheets. Collaboration with the Event Coordinator and performing directed tasks are also part of the role, including selling club events effectively.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of host / hospitality experience
  • Demonstrated ability to improve operational efficiency
  • A commitment to creating great experiences for our members and guests
  • Able to stand for long periods of time, up to 8 hours or more
  • Able to stoop and bend
  • Able to lift up to 40 pounds from time to time
  • Able to safely work with potentially dangerous chemicals and equipment
  • Able to comply with safety and health code standards
  • Able to handle responsibilities that require repetitive motion tasks
