About The Position

This role involves performing preventative maintenance and repairs on intermodal heavy equipment in a fast-paced outdoor environment. As a Mechanical Lead, additional responsibilities include serving as the primary point of communication with local facility managers, coordinating with internal teams for parts and services, performing administrative tasks, collaborating with the Regional Manager and billing team, ensuring customer systems are updated, and managing the workload of fellow on-site technicians.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Valid driver’s license with clean motor vehicle record
  • 7+ years' experience troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining heavy equipment (e.g., forklifts, man lifts)
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and basic computer skills
  • Ability to read electrical and hydraulic schematics
  • Own basic hand tools
  • Comfortable working at elevated heights and lifting up to 50 lbs
  • Willing to work outdoors in all weather and around loud machinery
  • Ability to distinguish colors accurately and follow safety protocols (company and Railroad)
  • Basic understanding of SPC fundamentals
  • Willingness to work after hour call outs.
  • Experience in administrative support or operations coordination
  • Strong organization and time management
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and service management software
  • Works well independently and within cross-functional teams
  • Detail-oriented with strong documentation and recordkeeping
  • Customer-focused with effective problem-solving skills to support facility operations

  • Experience with scheduling, work order management, or technician dispatching
  • Familiarity with basic parts and service procurement processes

Responsibilities

  • Read electrical and hydraulic schematics
  • Repair and maintain heavy equipment
  • Performs troubleshooting and repair of systems and components, as required
  • Maintains accurate records, as required
  • Perform detailed equipment inspections and preventative maintenance following OEM specifications.
  • Responds to any customer related equipment requests
  • Ensure compliance in all safety, health, and environmental regulations, policies and procedures for a goal of zero incidents and injuries.
  • Assist in delivering required training to ensure that all co-workers have the necessary skills to perform their jobs properly and safely.
  • Communicate consistently on all activities to appropriate individuals and adhere to all company-wide policies to eliminate and/or reduce exposure to liability. (internal & external)
  • Special projects or work as assigned.
  • Be willing to be cross-trained and assist in other departments, as required.
  • Serving as the primary point of contact for communication with local facility managers
