About The Position

EquipmentShare is seeking a Heavy Equipment Shop Technician (Mechanic) for its rental facility in Chandler, AZ. This role involves providing maintenance and repair for a variety of customer and company-owned heavy equipment machinery and aerial lifts. The technician will work with the newest fleet in the industry and utilize technology to manage work orders, track service intervals, order parts, and diagnose issues. The position offers a schedule of Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with overtime pay after 40 hours, and is subject to on-call scheduling with additional compensation.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a heavy equipment technician.
  • Hands-on experience servicing and repairing a variety of equipment, including earthmoving equipment, aerial lifts, over-the-road (OTR) trucks, and water trucks.
  • 2+ years of leadership or lead technician experience, with the ability to oversee and coordinate shop operations.
  • Previous experience in the equipment rental industry, with a strong understanding of the fast-paced, customer-driven environment and the urgency of equipment turnaround.
  • Must own tools applicable to position.
  • Advanced mechanical aptitude and working knowledge of tools.
  • Extensive knowledge of construction equipment with an advanced understanding of schematics and diagrams.
  • Superior customer service, teamwork and verbal/written communication skills.
  • High School diploma, Trade school certificate preferred.
  • Experience in field service, maintenance and repair preferred.
  • Must be able to move, stand, stoop and bend freely.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
  • This is a safety sensitive position and any offer of employment will be contingent on passing a 10 panel drug screen.
  • Employment is contingent on passing a background check.

Responsibilities

  • Use tech to create, assign, and monitor work orders.
  • Track machine service intervals.
  • Order parts.
  • Diagnose issues faster by pulling data from hundreds of makes and models.
  • Determine the root cause and corrective action for each issue quickly.
  • Manage the daily rental board to ensure equipment scheduled for same-day and next-day deliveries is prioritized, assigned, and completed on time.
  • Coordinate and maintain effective communication between the shop team and the Service Manager regarding work progress, priorities, and equipment status.
  • Monitor work orders and technician assignments, following up to ensure repairs and maintenance are completed accurately and within established timelines.
  • Perform hands-on technician duties, including equipment inspections, diagnostics, maintenance, and repairs, while leading the team.
  • Serve as the primary Quality Control (QC) lead by inspecting equipment on the rent-ready line to ensure all units meet company standards before being released to customers.
