We are seeking a skilled and motivated Lead Heavy Duty Truck Technician to provide technical leadership in our Laredo maintenance shop. This position is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining Class 8 tractors and flatbed trailers while mentoring technicians and helping ensure safe, high-quality, and efficient shop operations.
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of heavy-duty truck repair experience.
- Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to perform complex repairs with little or no supervision.
- Experience with diesel engines, electrical systems, brakes, drivetrains, and preventive maintenance programs.
- Knowledge of hydraulic and liftgate systems preferred.
- Strong leadership, communication, and coaching abilities.
- Must maintain a professional technician tool set.
- Valid driver's license required.
- ASE Master Medium/Heavy Truck Technician
- All seven ASE Medium/Heavy Truck certifications (T2-T8)
Nice To Haves
- CDL preferred but not required.
Responsibilities
- Perform advanced diagnostics and repairs on diesel engines, electrical systems, drivetrains, brakes, suspension, steering, and chassis components.
- Diagnose and repair Class 8 tractors and trailers from bumper to bumper.
- Conduct PM inspections and ensure repairs meet company quality standards.
- Troubleshoot OEM electronic systems using diagnostic software and tools.
- Assist with major component repairs and overhauls.
- Provide technical guidance, training, and mentorship to shop technicians.
- Support shop productivity, safety compliance, and quality control initiatives.
- Maintain accurate repair records and work orders.
