Under the direction of the Center Director/Assistant Director, the Lead Head Start Teacher supports Early Learning Services sites throughout Chicago and surrounding suburbs by providing early care and education to children ages three to five years. This role serves as the lead teacher and facilitator of the classroom teaching team, creating an engaging and stimulating environment. The position recognizes that children are best understood and supported within the context of their family, culture, community, and society. The Lead Head Start Teacher ensures that services adhere to the Head Start Program Performance Standards, the Head Start Act, and the Illinois State Board of Education. This role is responsible for ensuring that all education staff implement evidence-based instructional practices and designs and delivers a plan for intensive and individualized professional development to achieve exemplary teacher-child interactions and instructional quality. This role is ideal for individuals who respect children and families with diverse values and cultures and are passionate about supporting learning environments and opportunities that foster children's physical, social, cognitive, and emotional development, while also supporting parents in their role as primary educators.
