About The Position

Provide hands-on leadership and technical expertise to the Heavy Duty Mechanic team while supporting the safe, reliable, and efficient maintenance of mobile mining and construction equipment. Act as a key resource for troubleshooting, work coordination, and mentoring trades personnel to achieve maintenance and production objectives.

Requirements

  • Red Seal Heavy Duty Equipment Technician certification.
  • Previous leadership experience as a Lead Hand, Senior Technician, or similar role.
  • Strong experience maintaining heavy mobile equipment in mining, construction, or industrial environments.
  • Advanced knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, and powertrain systems.
  • Proven troubleshooting and root-cause problem-solving skills.
  • Strong commitment to safety and the ability to influence safe work practices.
  • Effective communication, teamwork, and mentoring abilities.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and perform in a production-critical environment.
  • Physically capable of performing the duties of the role, including lifting up to 50 lbs and working in confined spaces.
  • Willing and able to work 12-hour rotational shifts and successfully complete required medical, fitness-for-duty, and drug and alcohol testing.

  • Experience working in remote camp and/or rotational work environments is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Lead by example and promote a strong safety culture in all maintenance activities.
  • Coordinate and assign daily maintenance work to Heavy Duty Mechanics and support trades.
  • Perform inspections, diagnostics, repairs, and preventative maintenance on mobile equipment.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, pneumatic, and powertrain systems to minimize downtime.
  • Support supervisors in planning and prioritizing maintenance activities to meet operational requirements.
  • Monitor work quality and ensure tasks are completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with site standards.
  • Provide technical guidance, coaching, and mentorship to apprentices and team members.
  • Assist with incident investigations, root cause analysis, and implementation of corrective actions.
  • Ensure accurate completion of work orders, inspections, and maintenance records.
  • Identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability, maintenance practices, and team performance.
