About The Position

Provide hands-on leadership and technical expertise to the Heavy Duty Mechanic team while supporting the safe, reliable, and efficient maintenance of mobile mining and construction equipment. Act as a key resource for troubleshooting, work coordination, and mentoring trades personnel to achieve maintenance and production objectives.

Requirements

Red Seal Heavy Duty Equipment Technician certification.
Previous leadership experience as a Lead Hand, Senior Technician, or similar role.
Strong experience maintaining heavy mobile equipment in mining, construction, or industrial environments.
Advanced knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, and powertrain systems.
Proven troubleshooting and root-cause problem-solving skills.
Strong commitment to safety and the ability to influence safe work practices.
Effective communication, teamwork, and mentoring abilities.
Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and perform in a production-critical environment.
Physically capable of performing the duties of the role, including lifting up to 50 lbs and working in confined spaces.
Willing and able to work 12-hour rotational shifts and successfully complete required medical, fitness-for-duty, and drug and alcohol testing.

Nice To Haves

Experience working in remote camp and/or rotational work environments is an asset.

Responsibilities

Lead by example and promote a strong safety culture in all maintenance activities.
Coordinate and assign daily maintenance work to Heavy Duty Mechanics and support trades.
Perform inspections, diagnostics, repairs, and preventative maintenance on mobile equipment.
Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, pneumatic, and powertrain systems to minimize downtime.
Support supervisors in planning and prioritizing maintenance activities to meet operational requirements.
Monitor work quality and ensure tasks are completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with site standards.
Provide technical guidance, coaching, and mentorship to apprentices and team members.
Assist with incident investigations, root cause analysis, and implementation of corrective actions.
Ensure accurate completion of work orders, inspections, and maintenance records.
Identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability, maintenance practices, and team performance.
