Requirements

  • Must be 18 years of age or older - required
  • Able to communicate effectively in English - required
  • Able to lift and carry 50 pounds - required
  • Able to perform physical labor in adverse weather conditions such as snow, rain, and cold temperatures - required
  • Must maintain a professional appearance and attitude at all times - required
  • Able to work weekends and holidays - required
  • Experience in golf course maintenance and construction techniques - required
  • Knowledge of turfgrass management practices - required
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills - required
  • Able to motivate other - required
  • Customer service skill - required
  • Attention to detail - required
  • Able to work all season - required

Nice To Haves

  • Irrigation system operation and repair experience are a plus.
  • Turfgrass management degree is a plus, but not mandatory for a candidate eager to learn and succeed.
  • Turfgrass management classes or certification - preferred
  • Microsoft Word and Excel skills - preferred
  • Previous supervisory experience - preferred
  • Ability to communicate in Spanish - preferred

Responsibilities

  • Daily supervision of maintenance team members to complete all tasks and projects in a timely manner.
  • Provides guidance and training to staff as needed.
  • Ability to manage staff with a positive and respectful leadership style.
  • Developing individual team members to learn new skills, and provide feedback as needed.
  • Assist the Golf Course Superintendent in planning, directing, and leading the daily maintenance, repair, and improvement of golf course properties including golf course, surrounding areas, equipment, facilities, and infrastructures.
  • Work safely at all times and assist in the application of fertilizers, pesticides, and soil amendments.
  • Repair and maintenance of golf course maintenance equipment and golf car rental fleet.
  • Maintenance, operation, and repair of the irrigation system.
  • Assist in scheduling, directing, and leading Golf Greens staff to complete daily maintenance.
  • Train other employees on equipment operation, chemical use, Personal Protective Equipment, and other golf course maintenance practices.
  • Communicate regularly with the Director of Maintenance, Superintendent, and Golf Pro Shop staff to discuss upcoming maintenance activities.
  • Assist in completion of course improvement projects and cultural practices.
  • Be friendly, courteous, and helpful under all circumstances.
