About The Position

WSP is seeking a Lead Geologist with 7 or more years of consulting experience to join their Pacific Northwest Site Investigation & Remediation Team. This team offers environmental remediation and related services to a diverse set of clients, including industrial/commercial companies, local and state agencies, and the federal government. Project locations can be local, regional, and nationwide. The position requires a self-motivated candidate able to work as part of local, regional, or national project teams and offers flexible working arrangements. The ideal candidate will be excited about the opportunity to help grow WSP's environmental consulting business.

Requirements

  • B.S. or higher in Geology, Hydrogeology, or related discipline
  • 7 or more years post-education environmental consulting experience
  • Professional registration in Oregon or Washington (preferably both) if a Geologist/Hydrogeologist
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Consistent and highly accurate project work
  • Ability to work efficiently and demonstrate effective organizational skills
  • Comfortable working within both small and large project teams to achieve objectives
  • Ability to work in industrial and field environments as well as in the office
  • Flexible to work outside of business hours, when necessary
  • Proficiency with MS Office: Excel, Word, and Outlook, in particular
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies
  • Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s Degree is preferred.
  • 40-Hour OSHA Health & Safety Training (HAZWOPER) (29 CFR 1910.120) preferred.
  • Basic First Aid and Adult CPR training desired.

Responsibilities

  • Help solve problems and document solutions, express ideas through strong technical writing and verbal communication, and support technical reports, plans, and calculations in a consulting environment.
  • Work on a variety of multi-disciplinary projects, with substantial emphasis on soil, soil vapor/gas, groundwater, surface water, sediment, and stormwater investigations and remediation systems; chemical fate and transport assessment; hazardous waste management; permitting; and site planning.
  • Provide guidance on green and sustainable remediation techniques for a variety of clients who would like to minimize their carbon footprint.
  • Support litigation projects through cleanup cost evaluation and preparing materials for mediation and expert testimony.
  • Be a member or leader of teams providing environmental consulting services to commercial and government clients.
  • Perform complex technical tasks under oversight of more experienced technical reviewers/directors as appropriate.
  • Possess knowledge and technical skills in Federal, Oregon and Washington regulations.
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
