About The Position

This role assists the supervisor in ensuring all daily functions specific to the freezer are completed as required. The Lead Freezer DC will orientate new team members to their jobs, including basic dress requirements, good manufacturing practices, safety aspects, job assignments, and sanitation procedures and policies, also serving as a mentor. Effective communication with team members, supervisors, management, QA, and USDA regarding any information needed to complete freezer activities is essential. The position requires reading, interpreting, and applying Warehouse Management System (WMS) order instructions, recognizing and correcting potential process errors before actions adversely affect the customer, and recognizing damaged product at any point in the warehousing process and taking appropriate action. The role involves pulling orders accurately as assigned, staging orders according to carrier location, and verifying the number of pallets picked as well as the stage location. Participation as a member of the team is crucial, including ongoing development, communication, and implementation of team concepts, programs, and policies, coordinating work to ensure B.E.S.T practices with all team members, and attending appropriate team meetings. As a member of the team, fostering strong cohesiveness regarding all major issues (e.g., direction, annual plan, budget, policy changes, etc.) is expected. This includes accepting responsibility to quickly identify any areas that lack cohesiveness, bringing them to the attention of the team leader, and working with the team in a supportive manner to resolve issues and actively looking for ways to achieve synergy within the larger organization. Familiarity with Simmons' established operating systems (e.g., quality, security, office environment, company policies) is required, understanding the responsibility to maintain familiarity with these systems and this position's role in supporting them, including consideration of the impact of individual actions and the responsibility to communicate concerns and improvement ideas. Requirements

  • 1-2 years warehouse experience.
  • Intermediate knowledge of MS Office (Word and Excel).
  • Working knowledge of WMS systems.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted.
  • Ability to walk in high traffic areas.
  • Must use Freezer suit, composite/steel toe boots, and other protective equipment as needed or required.

Nice To Haves

  • 1 year related warehouse/freezer experience or 1 year experience with powered lift equipment.
