About The Position

The Lead Fleet Mechanic is responsible for the repairs and maintenance of Northern Concrete automotive fleet as well as light and heavy-duty construction equipment. This position will report to the Shop Manager.

Requirements

  • 10 or more years of general mechanic and equipment maintenance experience
  • 5 or more years of diesel engine repairs
  • Experience with small engine repair
  • Basic knowledge of welding and fabrication
  • Ability to lead up to 5 team members
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • CDL or ability to obtain with 1-year
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Nice To Haves

Responsibilities

  • Prioritize all work in the most efficient manner to achieve minimum fleet downtime and while organizing and coordinating the workflow of staff.
  • See that all repair orders, PM lists and parts accountability are completely documented.
  • Determine vehicle and equipment condition by conducting inspections and diagnostic tests to identify worn and damaged parts.
  • Perform adjustments and alignments to correct vehicle deficiencies.
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, rebuild, replace, and complete required repairs on company equipment.
  • Ensure that all preventative maintenance is performed and within company standards.
  • Ensure that all vehicle deficiencies are addressed by removing, repairing, adjusting, overhauling, assembling, disassembling, and replacing major assemblies, sub-assemblies, components, parts, or systems, such as power and drive trains, electrical, clutches, air conditioning, fuel system, emission, brake, steering, hydraulic system, and tires. Welding as needed.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment in compliance with workplace safety rules and regulations and government guidelines.
  • Maintain inventory of fleet parts and consumable supplies and maintain proper record keeping.
  • Backup and supervise shop personnel as needed.
  • Shuttle equipment to and from shop and repair facilities and handle road service calls as needed.
  • Interact with drivers and staff to communicate fleet status and actively work to accomplish fleet availability.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by management.
